Let us stem separate multiple files at a time!!
Traktor 4 is great, but the Stem separation analysis process is ridiculous. Why can't I highlight multiple files and set Traktor to perform stem separation on them all? When you highlight multiple files and access the right click drop down menu, the "generate stems" option disappears. That's a huge oversight in terms of usability. The Stem separation process takes a few minutes per track, and having to manually queue up another file is a huge waste of time.

It's not a huge oversight; it was acknowledged when TP4 was released. NI have not said "this is it, that's all you're going to get"… They have said that development will continue and I'm sure we will see Stem separation for multiple files, perhaps a whole folder or playlist in a future release. If you've ever worked in software development, you'll know that releasing an MVP is valuable for customers and your business. The next iteration will contain more features that make your experience better again.

An minimum viable product version of this feature would've included multiple file analysis and separation. Not being able to do that is a huge block on getting useful user feedback. It's not a wild assumption to think that this new form of track analysis would've worked similarly to the old form of track analysis. And it isn't clear at all from the promotional material that it doesn't. I know how software development works - and I know that some level of UX/UI should always be done when implementing new features.
Analyzing for stem separation is not all that different from normal track analysis - it's something you do in a large batch and walk away from, then come back and check later. Any amount of usabililty testing would've told the team that this is not how this should work. Hell, if you're a user of the software you know this. Having to initiate stem generation, one track at a time, coming back when each single track is done to initiate it again is really, really bad UX. I can't imagine the Traktor team doesn't know this, so I'm hoping an update is forthcoming soon.
Many of us have been with this software for years and years, and have built up a large collection of tracks we want to stem separate. Doing this manually, one track at a time, is going to take a very long time, and NI is going to get less useful user feedback than they would otherwise.
If you're fine with it, I'm glad. I'm not fine with it. I hope the team fixes this soon.

Don't worry too much. All it takes is a bit of time.
I am sure more than a few people (me included) are happy TP4 is finally out, knowing they are working on getting the polish applied to the rough edges instead of waiting till christmas for the perfect thing.

I'm not fine with it - not at all. I have thousands of tracks I want to create stems from. But I would rather have a version now that lets me separate one at a time than a version in 2-3 months that lets me separate an entire folder, caters for the fact that I may accidentally click a playlist with 1000 songs in it and then need to cancel it somehow and cleanup, gives me an estimate of the time it could take, tells me I don't have enough disk space to complete the task, allows me to pause or interrupt the separation, uses my GPU…and the list goes on… all features that users are going to ask for. What we have is an MVP and I'm sure there is more to come.

I consider TP 4.0.0 a public beta, much like TP 3.0.0 was. What is the hurry, if i may ask?
NI is collecting all of the feedback to prioritize the next development steps (and has clearly stated in the presentation that the stems feature wasn't complete yet). And considering that the ownership switch of the company a few years back resulted in massive lay-offs, i expected longer development cycles that no amount of venting was going to reduce.

Multiple stems separation IS possible - with a short / hotkey configuration
Someone teach me in "some of these chats" how to create a short key for this.…unfortunately i dont remember that wizards name, but it has helped me a lot!
so, go to:
Preferencies → controller manager → Add in → browser → List→ generate Stemsthen push "learn" - button, and add a command you wish (i used "alt + a")
when you have done your shortcut go to playlist and highlight first track - and press your shortcut combination like "alt + a", then choose a next one …and so on..
for me, one normal track separation takes at least (win 11 / i7 pro + Kontrol S8) to 3 -4 minutes.
if you make more than 50 remember to save playlist by closing and opening traktor software
- over a 100 track makes system freezed, and it will "lost" all stems from that time
- do not try to play and analyze stems in same time - Traktor will freeze or crash…
- when i was analysing my stems , i felt that processing was a little bit faster with mixer on than without it?
hope this will help you too !

save playlist
There is a mappable command to save the collection (playlists and all). I added this myself to my keyboard mapping. No need to exit and restart.

…cpould you be a little more specific, can i make a similar shortcut like i explained , but it will save my playlist?
…could you please share your solution, or do we have to dig it from system ourself?0 -
Preferences → Controller Manager → Add in → Browser → Tree→ Save Collection
Note: this will consume some time during which Traktor still plays audio but does not accept any commands from keyboard/controller/mouse. The older the Traktor version the quicker the saving process.
