hello, please help, after updating Hardware Connection Services 1.7.6 in native access and downloading KSMK3Updater and starting the firmware update, the controller (s88n) no longer works. it just wants to update and won't let me play anymore. my computer is Ryzen 7-5700 - windows 11 with all updates and updated drivers. the updater always turns red again after 10 seconds..... who can help me……I've already tried everything that native suggests as a solution several times without success

Hopefully @Jeremy_NI will be able to help you. But in the meantime, I'll say this about USB. Not USB-C, necessarily; but USB in general.

No matter what computers I've had, Windows, Mac, or whatever, I have occasionally had USB stability issues. For example, on my current i9 desktop system, I have to use a specific cable and hub for my Arturia Analog Lab or Novation SL 2 controllers. Never have an issue with my S61 MK3, or my Roli Seaboard 2, however. The Arturia and Novation for some reason need to be plugged into the front panel USB 3.0 port on my machine (which is in turn routed to the motherboard via an internal USB header). But the NI and Roli keyboards are routed through a Thunderbolt 4 active hub and all the way to the back of my Asus TB PCI-E controller card (but not TB compliant, so this connection is just a USB-C connection).

It's weird, and it doesn't seem to matter if I have a Windows laptop or desktop, or a MacBook Pro. The USB will either be stable, or once in a blue moon I'll hear it continually drop and then reconnect. I could swap cables to a different device, and then it stays stable, or I could switch to a different cable or a different hub, and suddenly it's working. Or I could swap a working device to another USB cable or hub, and it will start dropping communication.

Luckily, this is rare (only about 1 in 30 connections are prone to failure). But it does still happen on occasion, and I have to keep trying different connections and cables to get it to be stable. But once it's stable, it stays stable.

Keep this in mind, and be willing to swap in/out different cables, hubs, or plug into a different connector on your computer.

@Nirav Can you share a screenshot of the error message from the firmware updater? Can you also share a photo of hw it looks on the keyboard itself?

How do you connect the keyboard to your computer? Are you also connecting the keyboard to power?

I wonder if a broken DFU driver could have been the issue?

See this thread, where following the steps to repair such a thing repaired similar symptoms.

hi, my problem is back.thanks for the tips

after updating hardware connection service 1.7.6 and switching on the s88 controller all problems were back.

after starting KSMK3Updater.exe, the display on the controller shows

download the Updater.exe and start, Windows breaks the connection for 1 second and after 10 seconds the updater turns red.

reinstalled the drivers according to NI's instructions, then restarted computer - same problem

Since then nothing has worked, no DAW, no browser
no work possible with it anymore

does anyone have a solution please

Where can I download the orginal driver for Kontrol S88 MK3 DFU?
I can't find it in the NI download center - only the firmware updater and MK2 driver

Hello Jeremy, thank you for your answer and effort

yes, I followed all the steps - several times -

    nothing works...

when I start the PC, Kontrol s88 also starts,
then the device manager looks like this:

whenever I start the updater - then Kontrol s88 goes off 1 secends and then back on again,
at that moment Windows loses contact and
then the device manager looks like this.

And after 10 seconds the updater turns red again.

I tried to update the driver - following the instructions from NI Support
But the driver cannot be found in the list of drivers.

All the others are there, MK2,
Machine... but no driver MK3 s88

Do you have any other idea what I could do - what the problem is?

Have you tried the specific steps as outlined here?

It sounds like a broken DFU driver, perhaps.
