I have this issue too on Windows. So annoying!
My solution is: Start Task manager, go to services tab then scroll to NI Host Integration Agent and make sure its running. If it isn’t- start it.
(This stops/starts randomly on boot up)

This solution needs to be applied before opening Cubase/KompleteKontrol/Maschine etc.

I’ve added this to my routine of steps every time I boot up. Tired of windows…
