I have a question regarding finger drumming, there is a World Championship in Berlin (sponsor by Native instruments) the "Sample music festival" and also in Japan - "King of flip", and I wonder why most people use Akai MPC Live 2 and not Native Instruments Maschine or another brand. This year almost nobody used maschine.

Personally I prefere maschine pads but What are the advantages of MPC in finger drumming?

The velocity levels perhaps? The easy way you can assign four (now eight with MPC3) layers to a single pad, so it triggers different samples. Also just the origins and how ubiquitous the MPCs are.

Maschine technically has infinite layers per Pad thru the Zone Menu,

I think it's simply because a ton more people have MPC standalones, I mean it's a single 4 year old standalone (M+) by NI VS 40+ years of AKAI MPC's. Marketing wise I also feel like MPC's target a lot more of this audience while NI goes for a a more generic wide audience, for better and worse.

The battles I used to follow had quite the mix of brands, standalones and controllers. I remember at some point a ton of people were using the "MIDI Fighter", the one with the arcade round buttons, so it might depend on where the battle is and the local culture rather than technical advantages, which are sort of subjective.
