Your posts again add no value to anything so why bother? My orignal post asked the OP to provide more info so we could help him, and mentioned WHY there would likely be no more standalone versions from an informational standpoint. It's kinda sad so many folks just pile on without actually even addressing the orignal posters query. (*sigh) — I'm out.

Anything after that sounds like a minor rant/complaint/typical *itch session that could have been sent to another post - or better yet - not notated at all.

While I can understand the frustration someone has when they have a problem, and the replies are all implying it must be their fault, people who respond by stating they aren’t having problems , are (in my opinion) very helpful.

If everyone was having these problems then obviously there’s a major fault with the software. On the other hand If other’s aren’t having these problems, it shows there must be something going on locally on their PC/ Mac.

The op implied the problem was wide spread and used the “should Kontakt be retired” as an example and also said the replies were nonsense. I’ve just reread the replies to that thread, they are polite, and one poster sums it up when they respond

UVI Workstation, Musio, Halion, Opus, and VSP (I think it's called?); those all are the same thing as Kontakt. They just don't use the NKS standard. But still, they are multi-channel samplers, and they perform the same functions for the instruments and effects that their respective companies make and sell.

To say that Kontakt should be abandoned is like saying ALL samplers should be abandoned.

    I agree with that statement.

kontakt is a widely used piece of software, sure a few people have problems with it on their particular systems, but the OP basically Implies that it’s completely useless now and that anyone who responds differently are talking nonsense, to me, that isn’t a great way of wording the post, mind you, I’ve badly worded posts many times myself.

I’m currently watching a ton of music composition vids (using various DAWs, for example composing music for a film or computer game), unless the author of one of these vids is promoting/advertising a particular company’s product, it’s actually extremely rare not to see Kontakt being used.

This would not be the case if they were experiencing what the op is experiencing. A lot of the vids I’ve watched they have been using Logic, these are people composing for a living, often for very well known films/games/companies these people want the easiest workflows, they aren’t going to constantly fight with one piece of software month after month.

The op implies they have the same thing happening on both Windows and Mac.

Their post says they have used Komplete for over 10 years and effectively say they can’t understand why Kontakt is still being used, implying they have had problems with Kontakt constantly for the past 10 years.

I’ve been a Windows PC user for many years, been using NI stuff since around 2011 and have never experienced what the op is experiencing. I’ve never found any real long lasting problem with Kontakt over the years, yes there’s been bugs, sometimes annoying bugs (just like I’ve had in most other companies software over the years) but on the whole it’s been a great piece of software for me

I used to use Cubase then gave Reaper a go for a while, at the end of last year I changed to Studio One. My desktop PC is over 10 years old (added Ram and SSDs over the years) and I’ve enjoyed using Kontakt on it. In May I got a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro chip in it, my first ever Mac. Kontakt has been superb.

While I sympathise with the OPs problems, and appreciate they may have written it after a frustrating time for them on their system, them writing a post implying that it’s a fact that Kontakt is useless etc, its not the best way to get help.

If they are having this problem both on their windows and their Mac, it must be something they have done (I know none of us like it when we are told this). It doesn’t matter how clean and up to date they have kept their systems, or whether they built their first PC 30 years ago and know exactly how to keep their OS in tip top condition, or whether every other bit of software runs perfectly, if they have the same problem on both windows and Mac and it’s not a problem most others are having, in those situations, 99% of the time it is something their end.
