Komplete Audio 1 very loud noise when mic level on max with headphones???

When plugging headphones in I can't put the mic level to the desired maximum level for my Shure style dynamic microphone. I get a roaring loud, feedback like, sound putting levels heavily in the red. It feels like an internal feedback and I fear it is a hardware problem.

- This started suddenly after not having used the mic for a month or so. Before it worked without a problem.

- It doesn't happen when the input / host button is in the 12 o'clock position, but it starts when the button is turned towards the host direction.

- It doesn't happen when an empty plug without headphones is connected. As soon as a headphone is plugged in it starts.

- It doesn't happen when using speakers through the speaker outputs in the back (and not using the headphones).

- Tried different mic cables, microphones, and headphones. Also tried different USB inputs. But the problem persists.

- My daw is Ableton lite live 11, installed for a year or so without problems.

Thanx

    Hello,

do you have monitoring set on, on the mic channel in ableton. If you have the input/host knob in the middle or around the middle you would hear the mic directly through the interface and a second time through ableton. So use direct monitor or monitor through ableton but not both at the same time. Additionally do you maybe have some FX on the mic channel? And as far as I know the output on the back only outputs the host, in this case ableton, the mix knob is only for the headphones output

@alwinvrm If there's a suspicion of hardware failure, I would recommend to try on a different computer, if the behaviour is the same, get in touch with our hardware service: https://bit.ly/NI_support_Hardware

This is the old situation, that worked well for a year. Mic level at max on komplete audio. Monitor on in Ableton. Host button all the way clockwise on host.

A really strange issue, also that you use a mic where you need all the gain and headphone vol is also on max. is not ideal. But it shouldn't happen that you hear auch a sound, Can you change the interface under guarantee?

New situation. With host button at 12 o'clock no weird sounds but useless because I need to hear the guitar on input channel 2 in the host position. When the input/host button is all the way in the host position or all the way in the input position there is a very loud rumbling sound. This changed today to a very loud pulsating 'machine gun' sound when turning the button to the input direction.

With mic monitor off in Ableton and the input/host button on the komplete audio in the input position there is this very loud pulsating 'machine gun' sound when turning the button to the input direction.

Phantom power is off I guess, you have testet different cables and a mic, so I really would guess the device is defective.

With mic monitor off in Ableton and the input/host button on the komplete audio in the host position things work. I can hear the guitar on channel 2 through the host and I don't hear the mic at all. Since that is myself speaking it is not an issue for the moment.

But there are are strange things going on. It started with the mic level button sounding scratchy and now there seems to be a new strange sound every day.
