Why have I been locked out of a Kontakt library?

I am using Kontakt 6, and I purchased the East Asia collection some time ago with no problems until now.

of course NI are suggesting I upgrade to Kontakt 7, but what if I don't want to and I'm happy with 6? - or is it a free upgrade?

The strange thing is, if I load an old project on Reaper or import a track template, this instrument works fine, it's only in creating new instances does this pop-up appear. Essentially locking me out of any instrument I want to use that I hadn't made a template for up until this week.

There has been some updates to some libraries that makes Kontakt 6 too old and the solution to that usually have been to downgrade the libraries in question (Previous versions of recently updated Kontakt libraries / compatibility with K6 older libraries) , problem is though that the East Asia library does not appear on that list and even if it has been updated then , to me at least, it doesn't explain why you can still open old sessions unless that you previously have been using e.g. Kontakt 7 Player without noticing which seem a little unlikely to me also.

No , the upgrade to Kontakt 7 Full is not free but using the Kontakt 7 Player is , but that only works for all N.I.'s own libraries plus for licensed third party libraries. , ref. : Third-Party KONTAKT Libraries - Licensed vs. Unlicensed

Anyway , if your problem persist then since I do not have anything else to suggest then I would suggest that you contact dedicated N.I. Kontakt Support . (You need to use browser with Cookie , Security and Extensions settings that will allow for log-in on the page for the page to work) , Scroll down to bottom of page N.I. Kontakt Support and log in. Then again scroll down and click either the little blue box in lower left corner or if not there then click the Contact N.I. support that shows, then yes , damn it ! , then you have to click the Contact N.I. support again . Then if in little blue chat thing then keep selecting 'did not help' until that you can open a ticket. (your experience may vary but this ought have given you an idea how to do)
