2 different mono inputs for mic in maschine plus

Can I split the "mic in" signal to have two different mono inputs in maschine plus standalone? I see that I can assign source 1 R and 1 L separately onto different sounds. I have a trs to dual 1/4 ts splitter cable currently. It is bleeding sound between the two channels. Would a trs to dual xlr be better since xlr is balanced?

If this is possible, how can I isolate the left and right channels, or do I need to get a whole new audio interface?

The mic input is balanced mono (as most mics are mono), so there are no "left and right channels". Although it's on a separate jack, it's tied to the line inputs, as they are unavailable when using the mic input.

You could use a small external mixer with two mic inputs, routing the output to the line in jacks of M+ or a suitable (class compliant) USB interface with two mic ins.

    I bought a Behringer

U-Phoria UMC404 HD since it was listed as a compatable audio interface on native instruments website but it doesn't work with maschine plus stand alone.

Why is this on your website NI? After digging deeper other people have not been able to get that interface to work also.

If maschine can accept 4 inputs; why would NI only make their largest audio interface to accept 2? Not all class compliant interfaces work as advertised.

My UMC404 works only if i plug it in when M+ is already booted. And M+ doesnt see it when booted with interface connected.
