Kontakt is no longer seeing my controller or expression pedal. What happened?

I have been a ProTools user until THEY decided my perpetual license is no longer valid. I bought their subscription but got no help when I called in… So I'm working in another DAW. Mixcraft can see & play ALL my other VSTs but not Kontakt player. It finds it. loads it & the products inside Kontakt, but will not play them. Any Ideas?

I updated to Kontakt 7, refreshed my MixCraft VST scan & got it to play (w/o the DAW - using stand alone player), the expression pedal as well, but by the time I got it into MC track it had SERIOUS latency problems alone with distorting the output (crackling) & slowed tempo down by half. (I’ve never experienced that in ProTools or any other DAW I’ve worked with. It usually distorts & clips sound).

I’ll probly also bring that up to the MixCraft forum. I’m having another with MC (with MIDI playback) that might cause me to cut my losses & move to the next DAW of choice.

I should add, that the K7 (which is a very different look for me to get used to from K5), the VSTs only show generic looking folders whereas other sounds have full picture & feature display (like it sees something but maybe not everything it’s supposed to - IDK - just trying to think of all possibilities).

I wanna thank everybody for your helping me try to figure this out.

    Hello,

have you tried to record some midi into the piano roll of the instrument track where kontakt is loaded. Or have you tried to paint some notes in and check if they play?

Uwe303, Thank You for reaching out.

I had track armed the track & it recorded MIDI notes into the DAW, but would not play anything. I changed the sound to something I knew worked & it played it. At first I thought it was just my Sample Modeling Trumpets & Trombones not seeing my expression pedal, (they require an expression on CC11 to even play at all), But once I got my Saxes working (which also need Expr Pedal AND used to be with same company, (I think, but split, I think)), they played perfectly. But they use their own player (SWAM Player). So I now know its not the expression pedal or the MIDI set up.

Also, the Saxes were not playing until I went to my account on their website (Audio Modeling) thinking it might be about a license issue. I was thinking I could deactivate a license from one use (thinking it was ProTools) to activate on another (Mixcraft). As soon as I deactivated it, my Sax on the SWAM player was working in Mixcraft, as well as all my other SWAM player sounds. Everything in my Native Account that I wanted activated, seems to be activated & acts like it's supposed to be working, but can't get it to play.

I also looked in the Kontakt Player to find any setting that might be the culprit. At first. I couldn't even find the spot that tells me that it sees my Focusrite. Eventually, I found 1 place 1 time, that said "ASIO - Focusrite", but it wasn't even the MIDI setting. I couldn't find that page again when I looked for it 2nd time.

I have rather limited experiences with DAWs due to having had a lot of problems with trying to get acquainted with them back when VST3 were in transition.

I have however still tried to load the Kontakt 7 VST3 in an updated MixCraft 10 (your version being not specified !) and I have experienced zero problems doing that other than a bit heavy to work with my computer being only a generation 6 intel i7 and having to use a mechanical drive for N.I. content storage.

Normally I would suggest using same driver in both DAW and Kontakt 7 (set in stand-alone version ?) but it worked fine for me using standard (?) MixCraft drive 'Core Audio' and ASIO4ALL in Kontakt 7 ! (AISO4ALL apparently not the popular choice and apparently not really an ASIO driver at all !)(I saw no need for further testing at this point anyway !)

Kontakt 7 played nice inside MixCraft when I dropped a midi file into interface and assigned random Kontakt 7 instruments to play !
