Kontrol S88 MK3 - Default Midi Template Screen

Good afternoon,

I have a rather simple question. When powering on the Kontrol S88 MK3 I see the Default MIDI Template screen. I can click the Hardware button to display the Hardware settings with no issues.

I can open Kontakt 7 with no issues and the screen updates just fine as well as Komplete Kontrol.

My question is, if we are NOT connected to either Komplete Kontrol, Kontakt or a DAW are we stuck with just seeing the "Default MIDI Template Screen" until we connect to one of the above mentioned?

It's rather an eyesore but I wanted to reach out and see if it was set that way by design.

That's the way it is because the keyboard depends on having a library loaded in order to do anything other than basic midi, DAW transport or keyboard configuration. That's simply the nature of MIDI controller keyboards because they don't have any built-in sound generators. They just depend on external libraries.
