Just want to be sure i don't make any mistakes here.

I want to sell my Maschine Mikro MK3 and i read that it takes a few days for the license transfer to go through. Should i ask for it in advance before announcing the sale, so i have the transfer codes at hand for the moment someone pays me i can give him/her the code?

Or it doesn't matter, because NI will need particular info about the new buyer and do it themselves anyway?

Just asking because i'm a little confused about this and trying do it the most efficient way.

Thanks.

    Sometimes it's just 5min, depends.

Yes, it matters, ask in advance so that when you sell it you already have the transfer code ready. I would never, ever buy used Maschine HW from someone who does not have the transfer ID ready, especially online, tons of people get ghosted.

    Just go here: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/my-account/license-transfer/request-for-transfer/

Look for "Mikro Mk3 HW" and toggle the transfer button, after a bit, you will get a 'Transfer ID Code', this is what you need to give to the buyer, not your original license/serial number. When the Transfer ID is sent to you the page will show "ready for transfer" on all SW associated with the HW (K-Select too)

Nothing will leave your account until the buyer actually uses the code, in the case of MK3, you both get to keep a license, you as the OG owner and the new buyer.

Great explanation and the process is simpler than i thought, thank you so much. I'll get on it now.

Within this process, will it show you what other software and/or upgrades are linked to the initial software package included with the hardware?

Yes, for things like K-Select that came with your controller. For crossgrades it shows some indication aswell, last time I sold older HW that was tied to a crossgrade I had to ask support to manually remove it from the transfer ID.

Okay thanks 👍🏻 then I’ll try / start the wizard to see what’s the collateral damage when selling my Maschine Plus. Because I think it will impact some upgrades or are will newer versions be considered separate purchases?

Well, did buying the M+ give you a discount to buy any other product? Or did you buy some kind of bundle like M-Plus + Komplete ? If not then you don't need to worry about that.

No, I thought the M+ came with Komplete Select, which I’ve upgraded twice. At this point I own the latest Collectors edition… wouldn’t like to accidentally loose the license of that one 🫣

In that case, you might need to talk with support, with MK3's for example both you and the buyer get the license so you don't actually lose it, I assume it should be the same for the M+ but I am not 100% sure.

If not then you will need to own another qualifying product for your Komplete Upgrades. If you talk with support let us know what they say.

    Answer from support:

“Please keep in mind that these softwares are supplement softwares and the supplement softwares are not transferable. However they will be automatically added to the new owner's account once the Hardware transfer will be completed.

Also, the hardware software supplements remain validly registered in your account as well and can still be used.

So please have no worries, even though you transfer your hardware, you will still be able to use the softwares comes with it.”

So based on this answer the followed upgrade path isn’t effected as everything also remains in my account.

    Regards,

    Maik
