Automating sample start points?

Does anyone have experience with this very intriguing feature I recently learned about from Tubedigga, my favorite MPC guru, when he tried Maschine out for a while and was really impressed by a few things. Especially how well implemented automating changes in the start point of long samples is on M+ (with an LFO for example). Check out "sample start automation" at around 1 minute 12 seconds:

He usually does it with rhythmic stuff like drum breaks but I'm really intrigued by its potential with generative, lo-fi and ambient music. So cool!
