Was it pointless to purchase a Maschine+ on eBay? Won't power on in standalone mode

When I plug the power cable into it the buttons quickly flash for like a millisecond then the "lock/wxt lock" and "mute/chock" buttons are lit but extremely dim to where you can only see them in a completely dark room. Also the last dot on the ribbon strip is lit and dim as well. It comes on when I plug a USB cable in and connect it to my computer. Has the logos on the screens. Works as should when software starts.

What's could be the reason for not working with just the power brick hooked up? Does Mashine+ have its own separate software that's needed to power it on?

To confirm, you're using the power supply and not USB power, is that correct?

What's the rating for the power supply you have? The Maschine+ requires 15 volts @ 2.66 amps.

Yes using the power supply that shipped with it. Also, just realized the power supply doesn't even have the NI logo on it. Should it? Seems like a universal generic power supply

That's the correct PSU (just checked against mine). It does say Native Instruments.

With power going to it, there should be a flashing red power symbol on the File/Save button. Pressing the File/Save button should turn the symbol green and the unit should spring to life.

If you're not getting that, maybe the power board is faulty (perhaps had too much voltage or reversed voltage).

You have the correct power supply. It's exactly the same as mine, and mine was purchased brand new and is working just fine.

It powers through usb and works with software

Then it could be a faulty power supply, better check with my colleagues anyway.
