Hi there

I have had no problem with this before, but Im trying to install product in NA and it says install succesfull or completed og whatever. But it is not installed the download has been deleted and the content haven't been saved to my external drive where I have loads of other stuff.

I have tried both on my ssd and different other folders on mac.

It is all kontakt libraries I haven't installed already that I cant install.

Is this a known problem?

    Hmm...

So you are saying that the downloaded products are deleting themselves?

Or you just can't see them.

    Am I closer?

Mine is doing the same. OS X Sanoma. I just spent the day downloading and installing about 20 libraries all at 20 to 30gb each. Native Access says installed and the number in the corner that lists the uninstalled products goes down. If i close NA, once I restart it, the number of uninstalled libraries is back up and all of them are listed as not installed. This is an insanely frustrating thing to happen. That was definitely a few hundred GB of bandwidth eaten up in a day.

    Hi!

I have actually had this issue on Windows (10 or 11, I'm not sure which but it probably doesn't matter).

The problem for me was that some products would seemingly "not take" an update from Native Access, and would continue to appear eligible for an update, even after NA had gone through all the usual song and dance of downloading and installing the update.

If memory serves, I had to get a bit biblical with those products by manually removing them from "features and programs" and maybe even further by deleting any leftover cruft such as stray folders and maybe keys in the registry so as to make things as clean as possible for NA.

I did post about it in this part of the forum, and I remember after I said it was done and working now, somebody told me to reach out to NI support next time, lol. That probably is better advice than I can give in this post, but I'm going to try anyway, right?

I'm not going to try to dig up that old thread, but it's here somewhere and maybe it was six months ago?

But functionally speaking, and this is only based on my observations, it's important to note that NA still relies on the internal "installer/de-installer" that every product is wrapped in. And I think most NI install packages don't have the de-installer part of it, which is why you get directed to your platform's uninstall practice so often anyhow. That's how it seems to work to me on Windows at least.

For me, it was older instruments that just kept coming up as "update available" or whatever, even if NA had supposedly just updated them! Products such as Cuba and West Africa, and about 10 more.

Oh, I think I may have also upgraded NA somewhen during that time too. Ever since that time and effort, NA has been functioning perfectly for me. That, combined with an upgrade to gigabit fiber service from my ISP a few weeks ago really has helped make product installs super fast and convenient. Fables, as an example, is like 59 GB in size. I was able to basically download and install that while eating a BLT sandwich. Okay, it was a big download, so maybe that was the day I had TWO BLT sandwiches, a beverage, a restroom break, AND a nap! At least it didn't take all day!

There is one change in my own practices now. Today I usually run REVO to track and log all of my installs, so that when I uninstall that thing at a later date, Revo can find all the dangling and jangling bits and bobs and make a clean uninstall of that thing, including the deletion of any leftover folders and registry keys. That way I don't have to do so much manual work to remove something from my Windows systems.

The main reason for this is that my main DAW's Windows OS was last installed maybe back in 2008. It's been upgraded over the years and is Windows 11 today. I have way too much installed on this system, to the point that the registry probably would look like the Tower of Babylon if I ever were to draw a picture of it...even though it's running just fine with no performance issues. I would like to avoid doing a complete rebuild of Windows, or at least delay that until the 2030s if I can.

Here's the TLDR to all that: Open a ticket with support. 😏 Good luck!
