Can someone please explain how to use prime bass on cakewalk

have just bought prime bass but when I open it in cakewalk I can only get one single note (a slap sound!) to play on the keyboard below the picture of the bass guitar. am an older guy and not very tech savvy. I've been using the cakewalk on-board bass with no problems. so if I press the colored keys on the keyboard, only one note plays. and the bass notes I programed for a bass line don't play at all ... except the one note!
