Ok have the new S49 MK3 up with the standard 6'6" cable that comes with. Unfortunately I have a Mac Pro 7.1 rack mount where the cable needs to be 15' Read articles here about Certain USB C cables purchased the ones that certain users said would work, however unsuccessful. When the cable from the product is used, all ok in Logic with DAW control Komplete Kontrol, Kontak 7. In Protools 23.12 the original cable works for control of the software, not Pro Tools control. Went through all software installs and system, all good. Pro Tools still will put up an error message , "power cycle Komplete Kontrol, not seen. However all good in midi peripherals, and the keyboard works with KK and K7, just no daw control.

Any cable ideas for 15' with a 7.1, or a powered USB hub? I know it's new at this point, however would love to work with the S49 in PT. Still problems in PT's with seeing KK S49.

Any one else testing? Thanks much!

According to a lot of articles I've read the maximum recommended length for a USB-C cable is a lot less than 15ft. Could that be the problem? You can use a USB-C to USB-A cable with a MK3, maybe try that if you have a USB-A socket on the mac? You'd need an independent PSU going into the power socket of the keyboard for that to work of course.

Thanks, the 6’6” USB C to C works, I would hope the same type 15’ C to C might work with a power cable. I purchased a 16.5 ‘ that another op said worked, purchased two one for power the other for control. The USB C card from Sonnet is powered, so that should work from both ports but it doesn’t. However, reading OS compatibility, Ventura is not yet compatible with the MK3, Using the C port on the 7.1 Mac Pro and the 6.6’ NI cable supplied works for the MK3 in Logic not Pro Tools 23.12 completely. Will control KK and K7 but no control of the DAW. When you press the stop/play/record buttons it triggers sounds on the keyboard. So the question is; is there a cable, I was reading NI notes on cable type , but no one makes one C to C, like the NI one supplied. You can’t purchase another NI cable from NI either. So NI please list an exact cable at 15’ that will work, or a USB powered dock which will work. It would seam this would be tested before the release, not everyone works with a laptop or a computer right on the desk. I have a rack mounted 7.1 a distance away. I have a feeling Ventura and 23.12 with the MK3 might be the problem. Pro Tools has the’ MK 3 in midi , and controllers, however it states I doesn’t see it at boot up of PT’s . Again maybe Ventura.

When you press the stop/play/record buttons it triggers sounds on the keyboard.

That usually happens when you have the DAW midi from the kbd routed to an instrument. Not sure if that might be the case for you as I'm not at home near my gear this week so can't check it.

Have keyboard routed to VI , have midi control set up in PT’s. I believe the software should control the stop/play/record in daw mode, not trigger the VI. What am I missing in midi mode? Never had these issues with mk1 or 2 . Again maybe Ventura and something with 23.12 not completely right.

Yes I checked midi select, it auto selects when your out of the NI programs. The issue is in midi set up, in Ventura it shows the 49mk3 keyboard with main / daw / ext . In Pro Tool 23.12 in the peripherals it shows 49mk3, but it allows only to select main or ext there is NO daw select. Still need a solution for a longer cable, trying one more, should arrive tomorrow. Need to know where the software install for midi daw 49mk3 . Is it NI or Avid? Or did my loading of original software go wrong.

Little research here found some great answers. Found a 15’ USB C that works without power. All great in Logic. No daw control in Pro Tools 23.12 can control KK and works fine as a midi keyboard with other VI’s. Avid /NI hope there is a fix someday.
