Why won't my MK3 Mikro light-up when plugged in?

I've been able to use this controller perfectly fine for almost a year, up until recently, when Maschine 2 stopped recognising it. I got a pop up which said that a USB device wasn't recognised by Windows 11, but it only showed up once so I can't access the specific message again. I've tried all the fixes that NI suggested (software updates, running as admin, updating drivers, checking NI services in Windows, swapping cables etc) but none of them worked. The device still works on a Windows 10 laptop, so I'm not sure what the problem is, any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,

    Unplug your NI hardware.

Go to your Control Panel --> Device Manager. Then, under "View", click "Show hidden devices".

Check the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. If you see an "Unknown device" or any failed device, right-click them and remove them (click "Uninstall device").

Do not remove any working NI device!

When done, plugin your hardware again, and restart Windows.

If still doesn't work, most probably is because your USB port is somehow became problematic. Plug it in another USB port.

@Sunborn Thank you for your suggestion but unfortunately it did not work. I have also tried other ports they don't work either. Still searching for possible solutions.

    Hi Cut Short,

I recommend to check in the device manager whether there is a yellow warning triangle on its device icon. This could mean that there is no driver installed.

IIRC on win 10 I manually had to look for optional drivers on OS' win update pages. After selecting and installing them everything works as expected.

Good suggestion @DeepThumb but Windows says the device is working properly, as it does for the USB ports aswell. Unfortunately it still does not work.

My last idea to exclude any driver issues: Is your MMK3 recognized by the Firmware-Update Tool (you don't have to update the FW. This is only a check! If everything is driver and USB wise OK then that tool will recognize your connected MMK3)

So if still nothing works I'ld contact the support.

Sorry I'm unfamiliar with that, how do you access the Firmware-Update Tool?

Here it is, but latest one is from 2020. So if you bought it later than that, it is already firmware updated.

Doesn't hurt to check though, it was a good thought by DeepThumb
