Pattern Position Indicator Needed

I'm not sure if this has been addressed but if it has, I believe it warrants repeating (I'm a newbie so if this function exists and I've missed it, please let me know) : Is there an individual pattern indicator bar or ring to show where each pattern is in its loop cycle? This seems basic and of major necessity. It's fine if all your patterns are 4 bars, 8 bars, etc...but if your patterns run at different lengths, it would be logical to have either a ring or bar that indicates that position of an individual pattern. This is something you see in almost any groovebox/DAW such as Roland mc707 or Ableton. Thanks

The lights right above the smart strip on the controller will also show you where you are in the pattern for the currently selected group.

I think I figured it out. For me to have individual patterns all with their own lengths I'm going to have to use a group for each track in the mix and set them up in scenes - where I see a bar

on for each pattern/scene indicating where the pattern is in the loop. Sorry, answered my question :)

😎 Great, thanks! Is the ideas view basically the performance view where more improvisation can occur and the song view creating a composition that is more determined? Calling it the "ideas" view is confusing because one, any mode can be used to come up with ideas and two, it really doesn't fully describe it's true functionality imo. One more thing, am I correct in assuming that ideas view/mode is the closest to Ableton style clip playback (e.g. each clip in Ableton is looping at its own independent length)? Thx

Hard to be descriptive with names that are really just an abstraction...

I think the reasoning is: Since you can mix match several Patterns from different Groups quickly in a single view you can try new "ideas" that can become new "Sections", hence it's an Ideias View instead of an Arranger.

Ableton's 'Session View' is not that descriptive either.

Ya, I get that for sure. Ideas I guess imo feels much more like a vague generalization than abstraction. It just threw me off because it's actually the method that works best for me and I stupidly overlooked it because the name ideas just made me think it as a place to sketch out...some ideas. lol But the important thing is that I'm getting to understand it all now and find the method that works best for me - which is performative and improvisational.
