Kontakt 7.7.2, macOS 14.1.1 -- Trying to learn about Vocal Colors. In the NI online/PDF instructions, p.9 talks about "Source Browsers for Layers," which display "play type icons." I cannot figure out how to invoke or open Source Browsers for Layers, at all. I've been able to get to the other Browser types (Snapshot, Modulation, Effect). The PDF manual's date is 11/2023, so I doubt it's been superseded...

Can you please show the link of the manual?

I might be able to help you...

I was using the PDF manual, not the online instructions. I attempted to include the link to the pertinent online page in this response, but was prevented with the message, "You have to be around for a little while longer before you can post links." I don't know what brain-trust came up with that idiotic constraint. Below is the link in a form that won't trigger the AI that looks for unauthorized URLs within inexperienced posters' messages. I trust you'll be able to figure out where to substitute a period or forward-slash for the spaces it contains:

    www native-instruments.com ni-tech-manuals vocal-colors-manual en browsers#source-browsers-for-layers

I have not been able to produce the sample screen shown on that page. The instructions evidently consider HOW to get to the Source Browsers for Layers page self-evident or otherwise unnecessary to explain. Or I've missed those instructions somewhere along the way.

Well, can you send screenshots at least?

    I am actually worried now...

When i said 'screenshots' can you at least send them?

You have permission to post them at least, right?

As for that link, I will try my best.

Here's a screenshot from p.9 of the PDF manual. The online manual's content is exactly the same:

I can, apparently, include screenshots in messages. BTW, as far as I have been able to discern, the above constitutes the entirety of the NI manual's guidance re "Source Browsers for Layers."

Btw, do you have Vocal Colors anyway?

If you mean that you need more information about type icons, they have to do something with the Tone Pane, since you said that you can't enter it, I got it for you.

    Here is the screenshot.

Let me know if it helped or not.

I have Vocal Colors. I can also get to the Tone pane, as well as the other subsidiary screens associated with the modules. The meanings of the type icons don't confuse me in the least. What I can't get to is a screen that looks like the screen in the screenshot, from the NI VC manual, where those type icons are visible. If you see a screen that looks like the one in my screenshot, I'd appreciate your telling me how you arrived at that screen. It seems that anything included in the instructions ought to observable in the actual product. Nonetheless, the Source Browsers for Layers screen has eluded my best efforts to find/reproduce it in Vocal Colors. Everything else, so far, that I've encountered in the NI VC manual has been logical and reproducible on my end. My sole questions involve how I can get to that screen and why it's so unintuitive to do that.

My guess is that they removed it...they just forgot to update their manual.

But do you have issues with the Vocal Colors in general, does it crash, not work or something?

I'm still figuring out what VC is supposed to be doing. I just don't want to overlook any of its features in the process. It hasn't crashed so far. I posed my sole question, clearly. Nothing unspoken or hidden here.
