I'm unable to get Maschine Plus to record in standalone mode. Any suggestions?

I had a Maschine Plus previously and all I had to do was start a new project and load a kit and hit record and BOOM...recording. But when I hit the record button it shows red but then there's no track. Gotta be something simple I'm missing, but I can't see the forest from the trees apparently so I'm reaching out. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would be grateful.

Hit Record + Play to start recording with a count in.

I appreciate your feedback. I have done that and still don't hear the metronome count in nor does it record. I am at my wits end with it. It simply doesn't record. I feel like an absolute idiot, but I have read and watched the videos and still am unable to get it to record in standalone mode.

    Couple of questions:

    • is your M+ new or second hand?
    • if second hand, did you execute a factory reset?
    • did change the record settings?

Count-In, Quantize and Pattern length might somehow interfere with recording.

    From the manual:

Record Settings: These options enable you to adjust Metronome parameters (Level, Time signature, and Auto-on), Count-In Length, and automatic Quantize mode via the onscreen overlay, Input velocity, and Pattern Follow. The Metronome is a precise musical reference that can help you keep time when recording live input. The Quantize mode options allow you to set various options related to when and how quantization is applied to the input of your recording. Pattern Follow will set MASCHINE+ to move with the Playhead through the various parts of your Pattern when step sequencing. For more information see General Settings.

I bought it new, and I have gone through the record settings and verified that everything is in order there as well. That is why this is so irritating. I have started at the base level and gone through the manual and followed every instruction per word and yet I am unable to get it to work correctly. It does everything it is supposed to do except record. It does everything perfectly as a controller, but it doesn't allow me to record.

Is the MIDI you're trying to record actually there? Confirm in the Events menu for example.

Is a Pattern being created when you attempt to record?

When I access Events it shows when I am hitting the pads and that the MIDI is indeed being accessed, but when I hit record and do it no Pattern is being created in the selected Pattern or anywhere else for that matter. Again, it works in the software on my computer as a controller, just not in standalone mode. I truly don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

    More questions:

    • What do you mean by „no Pattern is being created“: Not even an empty one?
    • after loading a Group, does playing Pads (finger drumming) work?
    • after loading a Group, can you activate the loaded Patterns and have them play back
    • Could it be that your new M+ is not yet registered and therefore in some sort of demo mode?

If you can do a video, that might be helpful.

I will try to do a video. An empty pattern is created, but it doesn't record. It is registered so that's not it. I will work on getting a video.

Just had the same thing happen to me after a long night in the studio … don’t panic just take out your card and disconnect everything and reset it …
