Is everything in GR6 contained in GR7?

Not sure if everything is contained or not, but one thing to keep in mind is that if you have any unfinished songs that use GR6 that you might want to continue, I'd recommed not unistalling yet, since you'd probably lose all your setups.

Yes, Guitar Rig 7 contains everything that is also in Guitar Rig 6.

But it does not automatically replace Guitar Rig 6 in any of your DAW projects. So if you have saved a project with the Guitar Rig 6 plugin you need to keep Guitar Rig 6 installed on your computer if you want to be able to load those projects.

Thanks. For one who never saved anything with GR6 there's no need to have it installed.

I don't get how they can release new versions so quickly, with so little changes between them, and no way of opening previous sessions containing n-1 version ! I truly don't see much fondamental difference between Kontakt 5 and Kontakt 7, so why do they change the plugin ID.

I don't care about them asking for money for an update, but at least they should keep the same plugin ID, and just stop the update process if you don't buy the updated license.

So the vst3 would be called Kontakt or Guitar Rig (whatever the version), and would be unable to open such and such library or preset if it's not updated, but at least you don't need to keep installed on your machine K5, K6 and K7 in order to be able to open old sessions...

Same with Guitar Rig and Reaktor (even if Reaktor may be a different story : it has less frequent updates, and the core of the plugin has changed a lot between R5 and R6)
