Sub-genre branches for genre categorisation

I have a feeling that this is an idea that might be much more difficult to impliment that the resulting simplicity of the idea.

I would like to have sub genres available when categorising music. This would make it much easier to play through music live. For example having a "hip hop' genre does not mean all contained song are immediatally compatible, even if they are in key and beat synced. However sub categories would be much easier to manage, and highly functional

eg:

Hip Hop

• club
• booty
• west coast
• chill
• backpack
• trip

(all user defined)

The insanity and disorganisation of my genre list makes me sad.
