Komplete editions / No Discord??

I would have rather asked this in a Discord channel to get some immediate feedback on it. Also, since this is more of a personal preference issue, there really is no need to keep it logged in a forum like this for all time. THIS is what a Discord is for. I find it a bit shocking that a professional company of this calibre does not have one. YES, keep the forum so the community has a permanent log of things that will benefit from that. However, you also ought to provide a Discord for immadiate feedback and chat oriented needs. How can a music centric community NOT be served by a more creative social outlet??

I just bought my first AKAI, the MPK mini v3. It says that I get to pick from 3 editions of Komplete: Beats, Band or Electronic. I'm not certain if either one will suit my needs, and certainly none of them will fit all of my needs. I want to produce ambient background music for two different genres, medieval and cyberpunk. So on one end of the spectrum you'll have something you might expect to hear in a medieval tavern or dance hall.. think lutes, harps and fiddles. On the other end, it would be thoroughly modern, electro-trance with perhaps a dash of funk.
Off hand, I'm thinking that Komplete may be a bad fit for what I need to do with it.. but then again, I have nothing to really base that on. You guys tell me, CAN Komplete help me? How would I do that? Is there some sort of custom edition I can choose to use, or..?

I would say that as it's Free, and includes 100s of £s worth of software beggars can't be choosers - these new packs are better value than the ones Native have sold to their own customers.
You would need to purchase the full Komplete to get near to everything you want, but based on one part of your requirements the Select Electronic pack would suit you more.

I put together a spreadsheet for comparison. That's a bit rough, since I technically have no clue what does what. It appears that the Band Edition offers the most inherent value, since you get most of the components for a modern band. My big problem iis that I have no idea what the stuff at the bottom is for. I can't even make an educated guess.
I agree, the Electronic edition would get me a whole lot closer to the elecro-trance-funk needed for cyberpunk. What does it take to add to these packs later, though? Could I for example substitute some lute samples for the accoustic guiter in Band, and make it more useful? I'm still kind of shooting in the dark here, becaue I don't actually understand what all of these options are.0 -

For the record, I did pick the Electronic pack. I still don't have any idea what all of the gray options on the bottom of my table above are, but that's alright. I'll sort it someday.

I agree that Discord is the gold standard for communication, replacing the outdated forum model. It has absolutely all the tools for fast and high-quality interaction. And importantly - it’s the most convenient way to share sounds of Native Instruments plugins.

Discord does NOT replace the electronic forum. It doesn't keep important conversations for archival purposes, and it certainly does not log important information/instructions for later use (I mean, pins, but no).
Discord does provide an expedient way to get a quick answer, when that is all that is needed.0 -
A public Native Instruments Discord channel is on the way, and when is ready, we'll share an invite link to all members. Soon… 😉

Please explain how it replaces the forum model? Every time I go on Discord I struggle to find anything, it seems very disorganised and chaotic to me.

This reminds me of the things my grandpa or grandma would say when I was trying to teach them how to use a smartphone instead of their old landline phone :)
Discord is more versatile, interactive, and modern than traditional forums, making it ideal for real-time communication, community building, and multimedia interactions:- Discord supports instant messaging, voice chats, and video calls, making interactions faster and more dynamic compared to delayed forum replies.
- Unlike text-only forums, Discord allows users to join voice channels for spontaneous conversations, group discussions, or even screen sharing.
- With features like reactions, threads, and mentions , Discord makes discussions more interactive and engaging than static forum threads.
- Discord servers can be structured with multiple channels (text and voice), and roles help manage permissions, keeping communities well-organized.
- Discord supports bots for moderation, music, games, and custom commands, adding functionality that traditional forums lack.
- Users can easily share images, videos, GIFs, and files directly in chats, making conversations richer than plain-text forum posts.
- Discord works seamlessly on PC, smartphones, and tablets with push notifications, while many forums feel outdated on mobile.
- Unlike forums where conversations are mostly public, Discord allows private DMs and group chats for more personal discussions.
- Discord’s "Go Live" feature lets users stream DAWs or share screens, which isn’t possible on standard forums.
- Discord connects with platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and Twitch, enhancing user experience beyond what forums offer.
