Saving factory presets for 3rd party plugins

I'm just starting to explore using some 3rd party plugins - with huge thanks to the KNS user library!

Does anyone know a quick way to save all the existing presets for instruments like softube modular, reason rack, UAD polymax or Plugin alliance synths on a mac? I have the templates, things work well, parameters mapped but I can't do any browsing from the keyboard without loading and saving each and every preset in the plugin one by one.

I'm aware of the windows software to do this but I have no windows machines anywhere and I think it'd take even longer to set up a virtual machine then install all my plugins and mess around moving the files….

I just feel like NI must've thought of a better way of doing this? Like scanning the VST presets then convert them all in a batch? Surely such a script wouldn't be hard for someone with the knowledge (i.e. Native instruments!)?

Softube Modular could only be done one by one as every patch is a different synth/effect basically

Polymax is already in the NKS user library - so is most UAD native including all their synths

Reason templates are there, but saving NKS from them is complicated by the fact that the Reason browser makes no distinction between Combinator patches and just instrument patches so if you try and automate the process you have to try and exclude the combinator ones

Most of us who do this regularly use various scripting tools to automate where possible such as Autohotkey or Apple Automator but you need to keep an eye on it still as these tools are not perfect

    Thanks for the reply Kymeia.

I use Keyboard Maestro too so that may help… but often setting up a script can be just as time-consuming 😂

Has anyone done the factory and orchestra sound banks and be willing to share the nksf files privately?

I guess I'm just scoping out whats there already before I invest any considerable time in a DIY solution…

Sorry don’t think so - at least not for the VST3

    This is what we have

Yeah, thanks - your mapping templates are super helpful!

I'll just need to go through all the presets one by one, load them into the reason instrument and do a save as from KK…. So laborious!

If I make it through the whole lot for any of the reason instruments I'll try to upload them and post a link.

Same goes for the factory presets in modular, though I'm less bothered about those because I tend to just load modular when I'm going to make something a little more quirky from scratch….

Thanks that sounds a lot of work! tbh I started saving out some patches from my favourites such as Parsec but kept coming across combo patches and it makes me wonder how useful it is really to save single instrument presets when Reason by its nature works best when things are combined. Which is one reason (excuse the pun) I ended up not bothering.

Also be aware Reason has an annoying bug where if you use one of the mapped templates but then load one of the combo patches it breaks the mapping and you have to reload the template (which is why I couldn't just automate it)
