Kontakt 7 question(s)

I'm thinking of getting Kontakt after about a decade away from Native Instruments. Use an older computer for music though so can't install v8. If I buy it will Native Access offer older versions?

Thanks for your time and help with this.

Have another question that may not have an answer: Years ago I made the mistake of investing in NI when they were using Kore to power their instruments. They discontinued it and many of the instruments I'd bought and used in numerous songs weren't usable after that. Any chance me buying Kontakt will inspire NI to discontinue it and the instruments associated with it again? If they rug pull me again can I get a partial refund this time at least?

@geophrian We don't sell Kontakt 7 anymore and you won't get an earlier version when buying Kontakt 8, you can buy a second hand licence, we have a dedicated buy/sell/trade section:

As per the other question. I can't predict the future but I can tell you that Kontakt and Kontakt libraries are by far the biggest product. I doubt it will get discontinued any time soon.

while the chance of N.I. 'discontinuing' the Kontakt ecosystem any time soon is virtually nil then please notice that as far as I know then N.I. in general do not support more than three generations of Mac OS at any given time. And while that is more sort of a guideline then you should be aware that N.I. support of any Mac OS is not forever (and as far as I know then neither is Apples for that matter). Also on the subject of Kontakt then some makes of DAWs support 'auto-migration' of Kontakt but at present not all and that is also something to notice.

Also notice that getting Kontakt 8 full version will allow you access to using a lot of free unlicensed Kontakt libraries. On subject of getting back to using N.I. in general then buying one of the N.I. Komplete bundles is always the most economical choice unless not interested in the content. (especially if bought at a sale.)

Also buying a N.I. S-Series keyboard always gives you their entry level Select bundle for free. And on the subject of free then N.I. Komplete Start is also free.

Also worth noting that for our own libraries, only Kontakt Player, the free version is required.
