Deck crashes but Traktor is still working

This has happened to me once before but twice tonight on a Mixcloud livestream. The decks suddenly stops, the waveform blurs and that's it, I cannot do anything else with that deck.

All other controls appear to be OK. I can still browse tracks, I can change the deck to a Remix Deck or a Live Input but when I change back to a Track deck, the track is still loaded and it will not play. I cannot load another track using my S4Mk3 load encoders. I cannot drag a track to the deck. I can save my collection but Traktor will not close - it will say "flushing tasks" and then spin forever. macOS then reports the application as not responding.

I tried switching off "Load only into stopped deck" whilst in this state - no joy. I turned my S4Mk3 off and back on again - no joy. I had to Force Quit Traktor.

My setup:

  • MacBook Pro 2019 2.4Ghz 8-core i9 / 32Gb / 2Tb
  • macOS Sequoia 15.2
  • Kontrol S4 Mk3 with Kontrol F1 connected via rear USB
  • Traktor Pro 4.1.1

I don't recall seeing this mentioned here before. Has anyone else experienced this? It's odd that it appears to be a deck that's crashed rather than the whole Traktor application.

    This is a known issue with locking down decks that still needs to be figured out what is causing it.

    Just to be clear, this is not the same as the “Unable to load into playing deck”. I’m used to that and disable the deck lock in option to continue. In the image above; Deck A has completely frozen and will not play. Hitting play on the S4 controller illuminates the play button briefly on screen, but the track will not play.

    Right, sorry, I now see what you mean. This is the "blurry" issue that many people experience. It seems it happens on all MacBook types (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Windows machines.

    I have a similar problem after update from TP3 to TP4, Sometimes, during my set, the sound disappears. Although the track continues to play on the soundboard. If you start any other track, the sound will appear, but will disappear again after about 5 seconds of playback. Disabling the controller does not help. Only restarting Traktor solves this problem. I'm using a Macbook M1, S4 mk3 & S2 mk3, Traktor 4.1I had to go back to using Traktor 3.4, which seems to be one of the most stable versions.

    Hi,

    my experience was that disabling „Load only into stoppen deck“ only helped as the Sound didn‘t stopped already.

    For now, I have disabled it in the meantime permanently and never had this again.

    Interestingly I experienced this only when using the S4mk3.

    Personally, I never had this with another Controller and it seems that it‘s the same with most of the other users.
