Maschine 3.0 software loading issues loading NI Kontakt Instruments

For some reason Maschine is displaying an error "Your version of Kontakt is too old to load this file" and defaulting to Kontakt6 even on relatively newer soundsets such as 40s Very Own Drums. The sound then loads with K6. Then if I switch the plugin to Kontakt 8 it is fine. Anyone else having similar issues. Some other Kontakt libraries are fine, there doesnt seem to be a logical pattern.

In preferences "Always Use Latest Version of NI Plug-ins" is checked but it seems to be doing the opposite!

Adding to this to see if it helps the community with similar issues and to help get to a solution saving people time and frustration.

Having completely recreated (by deleting the library OS files) the library again, still the same issues. Its not all Kontakt libraries, which makes things even stranger. It applies to "some" NI Kontakt libraries and "some" 3rd party libraries - whether old or new! In Kontakt 8 I have tried batch resaving the libraries also to see if that solves - but it doesnt seem to. Also, I get previews coming through the maschine browser for the libraries that do not load.

Further update - some Kontakt Libraries show in the browser but do not load at all, regardless of version number - just display a Maschine "Error XXX could not be loaded". Examples of this are Best Service Cantus, although Mystica loads fine!

I've deleted and rebuilt the Komplete Kontrol 3.3.3 database and Maschine 3 databases several times (in that order). I then uninstalled versions of Kontakt one by one from 5 to 6 to 7. That didnt fix it. I rebuilt the Kontakt database in Kontakt 8 standalone. That didnt fix it. I've batch resaved the libraried that didnt work. I reinstalled versions 5, 6 and 7. That didnt fix it.

Put simply, days of messing about trying to get NI own software and its own standards to talk to itself getting more and more frustrated with various limited successes of some libraries working and others not to none of them working. I've raised with support.

Have you tried reinstalling the specific libraries where this happens? Like 40s Very Own Drums for example?

My fellow creatives, I BELIEVE I have found a solution to this 'Kontakt version too old' error, and hope this helps anyone in the future. You do NOT have to make any modifications to the libraries! However, if you did make some changes, just make sure that you've correctly mapped the directory where your expansions are stored in the Maschine software (File/Preferences/Library). I had Kontakt 7 and received an error message stating that my version of Kontakt was "too old to load this file." I went and bought Kontakt 8… still received the same error message. I modified my libraries, unchecked the box that says "Always Use Latest Version of NI Plug-ins" (File/Preferences/Plug-ins). ALL TO NO AVAIL!

Native Instruments (NI) came out with a new version of the Native Access application (repository where all your expansions are kept). I will not say that NI did not notify the community, but I did not see anything regarding this update. The desktop icon is different (traditional orange icon is now black), and even the name while the software is loading is different (Native/N).

SOLUTION: download Native Access 2 from here:

Once downloaded, launch the app and you will see the new GUI (graphical user interface) which is now black instead of the previous blue and white one. You will all of your expansions, and more-than-likely, you will see they ALL need to be updated. There is an "update all" button toward the top right. Click that, then wait for everything to finish updating. Now launch the Maschine software. You will notice that it is taking a longer time to load, which is due to the fact that it is updating all the libraries. After that initial launch of the application, subsequent launches will not take long at all.

    YOU'RE WELCOME!!!
