Repair (Relocate) All in Native Access

Hi,

I have my Kontakt Libraries and Expansion Packs installed on an external SSD permanently attached to my Macbook Pro. Unfortunately it happens, that the external SSD is not recognized immediately when the Macbook get's back from sleep mode, which then breaks all my Kontakt Libraries and other content on my SSD.

The path doesn't change at all but it seems there is no "refresh all" button or "relocate all" Native Access, just checking once again if the expected path is available again? Or at least just let me restart Native Access and build in a quick scan for the expected path. I think I am not the only one saving content on external drives.

It needs me to click on "Repair" on all the libraries, navigating to the original path of the library to repair it.

This is so frustrating to be honest!

    I actually found this:

But unfortunately it is just not working 😑 If you point to the correct root folder, where all the missing libraries are located it doesn't find them.

Contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support to see if that is something that they can assist with or something that they thinks needs mending .

Respectfully you seem to be searching for an answer to an issue that is complete avoidable.

Simply let your hardware get “ready” before doing anything with your NI product.

As I read this - it sounds like you wake up your machine and then 10ms later you jump right into action. All software would be struggling to keep up with that pace.

You need to ensure the MacBook sees the drive and is ready to use it before doing anything. If it were me - I would wait 30 secs, find a folder on the external and open it to ensure the drive is available and then carry on.

If I have this wrong and you are getting into your NI stuff 5 or 10 minutes after startup and it is still not working - you have deeper issues to address.

Having the same exact problem here. Recently had an external drive renamed but now having to point to the new library location 1 by 1 for each NI product in Native Access. No way to do a relocate all?

No Locate All (yet) within Native Access v3.17 to my knowledge.

One by one is as good as it will get.

There is a locate all, it's even in one of these screenshots above and in the linked article.

Where the heck is the "Maintenance" button? I'm on Native Access 3.18.0 and all I see is this:

BTW, this issue comes up for me because my external SSD needs to be powered on separately from my computer which I don’t always remember to do preemptively when my computer has been shut down for whatever reason (e.g. recovering from a power outage), and Native Access loves to launch itself when my computer starts back up due to the “helpful” way that macOS decides to relaunch every open application at startup. It would be really nice if Native Access were a bit more robust in situations like this, especially with how much time it can end up taking when recovering from an extended power failure, for example (and with all the other ripple effects which happen after Native Access needs everything repaired, such as having to go through the slow process of Komplete Kontrol rebuilding its own database afterwards).

"My external SSD needs to be powered on separately from my computer which I don’t always remember to do preemptively when my computer has been shut down for whatever reason (e.g. recovering from a power outage)"

Exactly what I outlined above. And it goes without saying - this your responsibility to manage

"And Native Access loves to launch itself when my computer starts back up due to the “helpful” way that macOS decides to relaunch every open application at startup."

This is critical piece of info that would have been helpful to know in your first post rather than now. This is byproduct of your OS choice and one that NI has no control over.

Native Access is not designed to be an omnipresent uber utility that anticipates your (or your OSs) every move. It is a standalone product manager that does what it is told.

Treat it as such - and everything will be fine. Success in your case equals taking control of your environment and managing your specific powerup sequence.
