Over Half My NI Library Needs Repair

I'm using a USB4 enclosure with a NVME drive in it, connected directly to the thunderbolt 4 port on my Macbook Pro

Hopefully that is helpful:
A mismatch between hard rive name and mount point can be caused by by various things (connecting multiple drives with the same name, error when trying to eject the external hd resulting in a left behind ghost drive,...)Sometimes iit is enough to carry out the following steps:
- safely eject the external hd
- unplug the external hd
- shut down your computer
- start up your computer
- plug the external hd back in after waiting at least one or two minutes after your computer finishes booting up
Then please open the Disk Utility and check if hd name matches the mount point or if the mount point still has a number added. The following thread explains the details and how you can fix it in case the steps above did not resolve the issue:

I wonder if you could setup a scheduled task to eject on sleep (or at least lid close), but I don't know if it would trigger in time?

Thank you all for your assistance in the matter. I think I have enough information to avoid the issue in the future.
My resolution actions are:
- keep my Macs from going into Sleep State, as this seems to be the overwhelming consensus from the comments provided and, as I only have the one external drive, naming multiple drives with the same name is out of the question.
- Re-seat my external drive in the docking bay I use w/ my Mac Mini to ensure connectivity (entirely possible the drive jostled when cleaning my desk or moving stuff around… or the 2 year old when I wasn't looking)
One final question, from my original screen capture of the Get Info Panel showing the external drive with 2 names (Content Drive and Content Drive 1 under the Names & Extensions drop down). Is it safe to delete that '1' behind Content Drive 1 under the Names & Extensions drop down? Its super weird that certain applications still reference and find Content Drive while others needed to be hand held and walked to the spot they already were at, just with a different address. All is working well at the moment so, it would only be me returning the drive to its original named state BUT, I imagine I might have to do some manual clean up again…

or the 2 year old when I wasn't looking
If you have a 2 years old able to unplug a drive and then PLUG IT BACK in order to not make you notice… I would not worry… probably in few years he will found a company in your garage and invent his own new futuristic type of computer, so you will change Apple to his brand…

Personally I use Raycast, but there's also apps i use when i'm producing Amphetamine, which you can buy on the app store:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amphetamine/id937984704?mt=12Ejectify that will automatically eject drives (doesn't work every time for me)

Can you eject the "Content Drive", unplug the external drive, and reboot your Mac mini? When macOS Desktop appears, plug back the external drive, and wait for the drive icon to appear.
Open the Terminal app in Applications > Utilities, and type the following line (cut and paste will do as well) at the "%" prompt:
ls -al /Volumes
The above command line will list the contents of the "/Volumes" directory including mounted external storage volumes. I will like to check after rebooting your Mac mini the volume name of your external drive. Can you do a screenshot of the result and post it here? We can then confirm if you need to rename the external drive to "Content Drive" if it isn't.
One of the apps that I have used before to handle ejecting external drive safely is Jettison by St. Clair Software (https://www.stclairsoft.com/Jettison/index.html). It works, but on very rare occasion, you may encounter the dreaded "not ejected safely" message. On the other hand, it will be a good time to reboot your Mac mini anyway, and use Disk Utility > First Aid on the external volume.
I am not using Jettison anymore as I have learn through trial and error the combination of USB ports that I can connect my external storage to without issues.. It also helps by flashing the firmware on my third-parties enclosures to disable drive auto-sleep—that involved a lot of researching on the internet for several days to find the correct firmware version, and unfortunately you need a Windows computer to flash the firmware as most, if not all, chipset firmware flasher apps are Windows only.
