It will be great if we could use one of the NI S4 MK3 channels to route Ableton trough it. What do u think?

    You can do this already.

You can have Ableton on ch1, Traktor on ch 2&3 and youtube on ch 4 from the same computer for example. If you're asking about send and return functions you can't with software the way you imagined because it's meant for dvs however you can have 4 send/returns though the s4 only when using external hardware.

    EDIT

I could be wrong about having different software sources playing from each channel. However you can assign the main out using multiple sources. This means you'll need to either remap the channel to control Ableton channel strip or use a separate controller.

If you can show a pic of the s4 audio settings in Traktor for inputs and outputs in both internal and external mode I can tell you for sure.

You'd be better off doing the opposite. Routing Traktor through Ableton.

    That's a good idea.

I wonder if the op is using a separate controller for Ableton?

You could even use the S4 for both Ableton & Traktor.

You'd need to "split" it into 2 separate controllers (probably sending on 2 separate midi channels) in something like MidiOx/MidiYoke (Win) first, though.
