Komplete Audio 6 MK2 - Windows 11 issues with audio playback (distortion, bit-crushing)

I got my Komplete Audio 6 MK2 years ago and used it with a Windows 10 laptop for years, without any audio issues.

I currently upgraded to a Lenovo T16 Gen2 Thinkpad (21HH) running Windows 11 Pro, and I've started having issues with audio playback. The interface is directly connected to my laptop via USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port. Audio will play normally for a while, and then will start distorting heavily. It sounds like bit-crushing distortion, and will only subside after I change the output settings from my sound device to the internal speakers of the laptop, then switching back to the KA6. Changing USB ports doesn't help.

I have:

  • tried updating windows multiple times, updating BIOS, through windows 11
  • system update for all drivers directly through Lenovo website
  • optimizing NI interface (Installing ASIO driver, adjusting sample rate and bit-depth, changing ASIO buffer size)
  • reinstalled the latest audio drivers (version 5.22.0) and firmware updaters (v. 0.3.6)
  • gone through the windows tuning tips, which changed nothing.

I've uploaded a screenshot of my device manager, and tried updating each driver through it.

This problem only seems to happen when playing audio over the interface, and not when played over internal laptop speakers. There are no audio dropouts, only the constant bit-crushing distortion. I've spent days trying to figure out what is happening. Working under these circumstances is almost impossible, because it is only a matter of time before the output start to distort. I would appreciate any help, since I've hit a brick wall and have run out of ideas. Is there anything else I can do? This problem is extremely frustrating and doesn't seem to have a reasonable solution.

Thanks,

Philip
