Slow Download within Native Access

Hi all, recently I’ve been having trouble downloading new content and updates from within Native Access, the download speeds are slow and it will often get to 1/3 way through and it will just hang there.

Anyone else experiencing this? Here are my specs:

Native Access 3.10.3

MacBook Pro with M2 Max Chip

96 GB RAM

macOS Sonoma 14.5

8 TB SSD with 3.13 TB available

I've also tried this on a few networks and similar issues. I'm on 5G using an Orbi wireless router. My network speeds vary between ~840 Mbps and ~920 Mbps. Pings are about 2.0 ms.

Regards

Matt

This is your issue. If you are not hardwired via an ethernet port directly to your router and then directly to your ISP - you can expect pain. Especially on 5G which never comes close to advertised speeds

Speed measurements have nothing to do with this - it is all about the endpoints.

Thanks for the reply, I forgot to mention that I tried connecting directly to my router with a LAN cable and had the same experience - I use wireless normally, because my router is in my living room away from my workstation. I've also on other network with similar experience.

It was downloading fine a few weeks ago, so I want to check here if anyone else is experiencing similar issues or have tips.

    Regards

Native Access downloads are regulated at their endpoint and bandwidth is not unlimited - if many others are downloading at the same time - slowdowns are guaranteed. Your location and ISP congestion also play a significant role here. Some of us have very good network infrastructure and some simply do not.

And while I understand the router location "challenge" - you cannot win a download speed battle on wi-fi regardless of the reason.

If you want this to actually work - you need to be hardwired every time you need to update via NA.

Yes, noted and already understood, thanks.

Even when I'm hardwired to my internet router with quality LAN cable, the download is taking forever and never completes.

    I'll keep trying.

Hello, I also have the same problem right now. I tried downloading my 26GB Session Horn Pro plugin and it tooks 2 whole days 24/7 downloading "via HARD WIRE" and still stuck at 26 GB before download failed. I also tried switching to other method NI suggest I should do and the problem is still there. Here is all methods I've tried

So from my point, I don't think the LAN > Wifi is the major issue anymore. I still haven't fix the problem yet and still cannot get all my plugins install.

Interesting, I’m still also facing the same issue. Slow download and seems to halt about 3/4 way on large-ish libraries.

You should also try a VPN (I already suggested that to @paich over here) he reason for trying that is that despite it is advised against by N.I. because it can give other problems with Native Access and sign-in then if there is an issue with the server that you are connected to or the file(s) on the server then switching temporarily might help. It helped someone on a server in Asia the other day, but since we do not know what is your exact problem then all we can do is suggest things to try.

Other than that then you have to contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support

At the page N.I. Native Access and Installation Support be sure to scroll down to page bottom to see if there is a log-in request , if there is then log-in , at next page again scroll down and small blue chat box ought occur within 15 seconds. Then write in chat box and when getting suggestions then select did not help when it didn't , that ought to bring you on to either chat with human or open a ticket. (You need to use a browser with Cookie , Security and Extensions settings that will allow for log-in on the page for the page to work)

There has been introduced chat support for Native Access assistance (at least daytime on normal work days) :

Please refer to the page : How to get in touch with our Customer Care

I’m based in Hong Kong, so may checkout the VPN option you’ve mentioned above.

In the meantime, NI have been gracious to let me download the zipped files from their secure Google Drive (no issues with downloading there).

Hello, so I think I have a solution (for me) for this problem.

So I try using VPN as PoorFellow suggested. I connect to US location and try download my Noire Library (15ish GB). The download is much faster and a lot more consistent!! I finish the download for about 20min instead of 48+hrs.

Thank you PoorFellow for suggesting VPN method! That means the "NO VPN" suggestion might not work for every case( my case for ex.) So for my suggestion, you can try using VPN first, and if it's not work then try the other methods I've tried. Maybe one of them might solve your problem.
