I just recorded a track in my DAW (pro tools) a couple hours ago. Everything worked fine all files were there. All of a sudden I come back and I’m getting an error message file not found! I go into my SSD and everything is there but I take a closer look and go into the instrument specific folder and all the samples are gone!! I didn’t change anything, the drive is perfectly connected, I didn’t move anything, nothing has changed between now and this morning and everything seems to be missing! I’ve reconnected the drive and re started the computer and nothing seems to work! There was no problems at all ever since using NI and all of a sudden things are done. I’ve gone into native access and it says everything is downloaded to the SSD and nothing is missing. any help would be greatly appreciated.

some specs:

macOS Sonoma 14, NVMe crucial 6TB, KK version 3, S88 mk3, pro tools studio 2024

I’ve attached some pictures of the problems

Is the problem happening on all the NI libraries? If you open Native Access and do a "Reinstall" on the libraries that are missing does that replace the missing files?

Yes! It’s so weird they are all in the right location and they all have folders, NA says they are installed, but when I reinstalled a couple they loaded again, even though There was no indication they were missing like an alert anywhere. I have a feeling I’ll have to reinstall everything which will take days. I just don’t know how/why it happened

If you have done nothing that could cause this then I think that options here are rather limited. If this is the works of the Native Instruments software then I think that it could only be the work of the Native Access app which then would have to contain a major bug ! Else , it could be an OS bug or your SSD could be defect somehow. Had it been I then immediately I would start worrying about if the SSD health. The way this problem occurs could be a sign of a serious problem with the SSD.

Of course it can be a software problem but if it is then I have no way of pin-pointing at what it is exactly !

Quote : "I’ve gone into native access and it says everything is downloaded to the SSD and nothing is missing."

That is probably just a tell that Native Access doesn't actually check things but only looks at it's XML files and since the XML file didn't change then the program reports everything there ! If N.A. actually had to check things other than when doing a repair then that would seriously increase program load time (depending on amount of content owned, drive type/speed and system CPU power , RAM and what not)

    Yes this is very concerning

I don’t know if this means anything, but I ran “first aid” on the drive and it couldn’t find any problems, the only other thing on the drive was UAD instruments and they were all fine.

i had to uninstall everything and I currently am reinstalling it all. It’s weird because the things from native access (apps and FX) not on the drive we’re fine as well.

@NickVegas This was never reported before. If you open Kontakt in standalone, can you load the libraries or do you get the same error messages? How do the libraries show in Native Access? Insttalled? If you check the installation path, does it reflect the actual locations?

@Jeremy_NI it does not load in the standalone kontakt/komplete Kontrol. The path indicates everything is there, and when I check the drive all the folders are there but when your click into them, they have no content

I redownloaded the first couple instruments to check and they work, I just don’t know how this could have happened!

@Vocalpoint oh yeah those do look similar, that’s kinda scary! Doesn’t seem to bode well for my situation/macOS with NA 3.9

Also just saw that @Hayo_NI posted a notice that NI is investigating something on the back end.

Very high likelihood - this is causing your scenario.

Hopefully they can resolve the issue quickly.

Great that you did spot that Hayo_NI post , I just don't think that it exactly fits the bill here , quote OP : "I go into my SSD and everything is there but I take a closer look and go into the instrument specific folder and all the samples are gone!!"

The Issue Hayo_NI refers to could explain a lot of other issues (for same reason I lately have been recommending to revert to version 3.8 to test) but that issue does not appear to be about the actual deletion of the files. But I can foresee a VP protest arriving so yes you might still win your bet with respect to that one also ! 😃

Seems like this could be something completely different but it does fit the pattern of many recent NI products simply not working for anyone with a MacOS.

This case is definitely a stranger one - but then again- Kontakt 7 is still not officially supported in Sonoma:

macOS 14 Sonoma Compatibility Statement – Native Instruments (native-instruments.com)

    So anything is possible.

@NickVegas also did not specific which version of Somoma he is running either.

Just because some folks out there seem to be having no issues with their Kontakt 7 / Sonoma - does not make it 100% compatible for everyone.

@NickVegas I've contacted you by email so my colleagues can have a deeper look in your issue. It looks like your issue is slightly different form the main recent Native Access issue.
