Virtual dj to detect the dj device but mix with traktor

I don't want a mapping for flx4. I saw a dj with my eyes who used virtual dj to detect the controller but mixed with traktor. virtual dj has almost all the dj device mappings and you don't have to download a tsi

I believe you saw someone having virtual DJ and Traktor running. But I don't think there is a way to communicate between Traktor and Virtual DJ.
Edit: Maybe he did it for some other reasons and not for mappings?

haha, I was talking to him and I asked him: why do you turn on VirtualDJ if you mix with traktor. He told me: I only have the virtual DJ to detect the controller but as you are seeing I mix with Traktor. Someday I will find it and I will tell you how to do it.

Maybe he means something else by "detect". Maybe he was joking.
But yes, if you find it, please share.

At first I thought he was joking but no haha. He told me that they did it for compatibility reasons with DJ devices. It's a shame that the traktor is so closed on compatibility issues. Thank you for trying to help me, I didn't know there was such a good community 👍

I've been using VDJ since 2007 and I've never heard of this "ability".
It's already been explained how a controller can only be used by one program at a time. The software detects the controller and then the controller cannot be used by other software.
Also, the mapping files for VDJ are different to the ones for Traktor.
I think if this was in any way possible, then there would be mention of it somewhere on the internet. I've looked, there's nothing.
I have both programs here, but I'm so convinced that it's not possible, I'm not even going to try.

I mean if it was true, it would mean only one program is connected to the controller. Virtual DJ and then it sends the commands to Traktor. Maybe through a virtual midi port.
You can do a hell lot with VDJScript. I'm not sure if this is possible.
(Not that it matters, but on Mac you can have multiple Programs connected to a midi device)

IMO rather than go through all that palaver, why not just map whatever controller to Traktor directly (or buy one, or have a guru make one)?
I don't see how having to run two programs makes anything easier - even if it were possible.
There's still going to be a hack involved, rather than some magic trick that just works.

It is possible because I have seen it with my eyes. I want to be able to do this because at any moment a party can arise at someone else's house and have one of the many DJ devices that Traktor does not have mapped but with virtual DJ there is no such problem.

I don't have any knowledge of virtual DJ. If you could look at it it would be a great advance for everyone and remove the traktor mapping limits

I would just use the computer of the owner that has the other controller 🤷♀️

You've written the solution in your own post. 😁
VirtualDJ requires a full Pro license to work with any controller. Without this, it will only allow controllers to be used for ten minutes.
If you're going to buy VirtualDJ (to alllow use with any controller) then you may as well use it directly.

The FLX4 doesn't require a connection to the VDJ before starting traktor. Some Numark and Akai gear does.
It is a matter of sending Sysex message to disable the demo mode which Traktor is not capable of generating that type of message.

Ah, that would explain everything.
So it indeed "unlocks" the device, but has nothing to do with mappings.
