Native Access Q1 Update

It depends.
Some companies tends to make you spend a little more but then give you back for what you spent.
Some others try to invite you to buy making their products look cheaper. But it’s not only the prices that are cheaper…

Suggestion: yes you did answer. But it’s using verbal forms like “you shouldn’t need to be online any longer” that keeps users in doubts.
They shouldn’t or they for sure will not? See the difference?
And also answering to some questions and not to some others is keeping us in this “we know but we don’t know” state

I think my wording here is pretty clear. If you own a product perpetually, you should not need to be online any longer after you've installed your products. If this is currently not the case, we need to address that.

With the second part you’re adding now (“If this is currently not the case, we need to address that”) that “should” take another significance: not a “doubtful, I’m not sure” should but an “if everything is working as intended” should ☺️ 👍🏼

Hi Hayo,
We have spoken previously regarding access for blind users, and again thanks for the work on screen reader support.
Is there a possibility that the NI accessibility helper currently offered via Native Access upon registration of Maschine hardware, can be offered as a freely available download either through the legacy downloads page on the website, or even an added utilities tab within Native Access?
I have had the occasional user asking me this question, as sometimes even after hardware registration, the accessibility helper has not appeared within Native Access for them to download, as this is critical for our use and enjoyment of the products & hardware, it can be frustrating when scrabbling around trying to locate this application in order to use the Maschine MK3, this will also apply to the Kontrol MK3 when the helper is added in due course.

native access 1 enable to copy paste the "release notes" text.
this simple function is not possible in native access 2. maybe you can enable it before break the old tool.

Kontrol S49 mk3, is the first and LAST NI product i buy...
I really cant understand how there is no way to make my own templates...and such delay, how this can not be a basic priority for the developers?
2 -
I don't believe there was ever templates in Native Access, what exactly are you wanting to do in Native Access that it currently doesn't do?

This is a topic better saved for the Kontrol area of the forum, where I believe we are discussing it together.

As a software developer of 35+ years I can tell you having a registration server response is extremely easy. NI chooses intentionally to cripple and destroy the older software. I presume their goal is to force people to buy newer versions despite older software being perfectly adequate for many tasks. They also promised long ago that if they ever didn't allow registration online then they would give a universal registration code that would bypass the need to do a call/response from a server, to allow people to keep using the software they paid for. NI lied, they did not supply those codes, they've deleted all the forum messages that showed the promise they made. NI has probably broken laws in doing what they have done. But for my current situation, I can simply not use NI software and focus on other stuff I'd rather do, and eventually perhaps when I am retired I will hack the registration process to get access to the software that I paid for and that NI should be allowing us to use.

In facts, it wasn’t even a promise made on the forum: it was written in the EULA.
The text said:
Should Native Instruments for whatever reasons no longer be able to fulfill its obligations to deliver the activation key, it will provide the Licensee with a key which ensures the continued use of the software independent of changes of the computer.
Guess what? They simply removed it… Now the EULA is just a list of Licensee duties and obligations, no mention on what THEIR duties are…

Last time I opened Native Access, there were 7 updates.
Should be straightforward, but no.
Clicking update appeared to do nothing.
Meanwhile, the 'busy' GIF next to Native Access was busy circling endlessly, with no indication of why.
Wouldn't it be a reasonable idea to inform the user of what exactly was going on when it does this and how it might affect other functions.
NA used to indicate the size of the update, not the size of the library, which was useful. Making people think they might have a 36 GB download is helpful to whom exactly?
Is it so difficult to make NA indicate download speed, so users can judge how long something might take?
It's looking very much like NA is getting worse not better........................

Unfortunately true, this stuff needs to be better, I also wondered about the size for example, but on the very bottom of native access you can click after you started al the updates, you then land on a download and install page, where you see what's going on. But I guess you already know that.

I actually didn't so thanks. Why can't it be openly displayed? It used to have the download size clearly indicated, so why has that changed?

I don't know why - in my opinion if I click "update all" it should automatically go to that page or show it clearly, not at the bottom
