why was it NFR? A gifted item? I bought my current MK3 off a dude who just wanted to something else than music. i had no issues.

I bought an used controller from Japan. Though the seller didnt transfer or share the registration with me, I submitted the purchase documents and picture of the instrument to NI team and the registration was transferred to my name within few days

Blame the Guitar Center employee who ripped you off by selling you something he isn't supposed to resell.

And a totally stupid one. It's perfectly safe to buy a used mk3. as it is perfectly safe to buy any other keyboard used.

Reach out to GC directly via their reverb. If it was advertised to have license transfer, they will need to provide you with the transfer ID, not NI. If they are unable to, request a partial refund. The Maschine software license is $60 from NI

I wonder how the OP knew the seller was a GC employee? Surely they wouldn't want staff selling using the company name unless it's a GC authorized outlet?

If it were sold by GC though then i'm guessing the op would have said so, but instead said it was sold by a GC employee. If it were sold through the GC shop then the seller would have presumably said GC sold the unit and the blame would rest on that particular store?
My thoughts were, the seller appeared to validate his/her trustworthiness or knowledge by using the company name, even though he/she appears to be a dodgy git. Can't imagine that would go down so well with a UK shop because of the risk of flack if a sale went wrong.

Good point. If the seller is fraudulently stating they are an employee for a verified seller, it’s a violation of Reverbs TOC, and the OP can obtain a refund from Reverb. Then Reverb will go after the seller to cover the refund costs.
