Maschine Mk3 control surface for Ableton 10 not working

I can't for the life of me get my maschine mk3 to show up as a control surface in ableton 10. I've followed all the steps over and over 20+ times from these instructions (https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/4413367278097-How-to-Install-Maschine-Templates-for-Ableton-Live). Its not working….I just want to make some beats in ableton while using my Maschine as a midi controller along with the cool features that come along with it, starting to think maybe i should've just got the Push….Please help

Hello,

so I guess you followed the instructions for the new template for the MK3? And you see all the other scripts after opening the package in the scripts folder? What exact version of ableton do you use?

here they say - put it in the user folder

Have you given Ableton DAW , Maschine , whatever full disk access ? : ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access. : How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS .

Also reading the page Uwe303 linked to then I noticed that it says that :

Live 10 and earlier versions used Python 2 for remote scripts. This has been upgraded to Python 3, as of Live 11. All third-party and custom scripts must use Python 3 to work in Live 11 and later versions.

That probably would then also mean that : All third-party and custom scripts must use Python 2 to work in Live 10

(I have no idea what Python version that the script that you try to use is written in but perhaps you should check)

As of Live 10.1.13, you can create a “Remote Scripts” folder in Live's User Library. Third-party remote scripts placed in this folder will appear in Live's Preferences → MIDI. After upgrading to a newer Live version, remote scripts placed in this folder will continue to be loaded in Live

Depending on how it was earlier then this could also possibly mean that to use the feature "create a “Remote Scripts” folder in Live's User Library" then you should also use at least Live 10.1.13

yes i followed the instruction (linked in OP) to the T well over 20 times. I'm using version 10.1.43.

and yes i've given full disk access as well as checked to make sure the NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent are set to open at login.

You can see i imported the legacy package just to test and THAT shows up as a control surface but the MK3 folder does not. and regardless. when i load the legacy version. it doesnt change my Maschine layout at all. I've tried loading the ableton 9 template that comes with Controller Editor because the only template thats included in the ableton 10 folder is a maschine_jam folder.. you can also see there are like 30 .pyc files in the legacy folder vs only 2 .pyc files in the machine_mk3 folder. so im not sure if thats the reason its not working is because theres missing files needed in that mk3 file or what. ive tried everything, contacted NI support and they gave me a total bot response with solutions that didnt even have anything to do with what my issue was…

Have you tried the user folder cause you use a version above 10.1.13 - read above or read the linked article. You should use the non legacy script as far as I can see. But man this is complicated stuff. I found this maybe it helps, it also contains a script that might be better than the ones from native:

Yes, if what support suggested did not help then promptly reply your existing support ticket to let Support know that it did not help and that you still need assistance.

@williamc1231 Sorry about that, these were automated replies, my colleagues will get back to you as soon as possible.

In the meantime, a couple of things popped up in my mind. What template are you trying to install? The new one or the old one?

Also worth mentioning. Live 10 might have a few compatibility issues on a recent operating system.
