Why won't Native Access recognise my Spitfire Instrument?

Hi everyone. Having an absolute nightmare trying to add one of my libraries.

I purchased Spitfire Audio Solo Strings a month ago. I own loads of these libraries, and have never had a problem. As usual, I went into my Spitfire App, downloaded the library through my default content path (/Users/Shared). I then went to Native Access to authorise the library with the serial.

In the 'not installed' section, the library says 'Add Library'. I click it, select where the file is (with the .nicnt file), and it just keeps saying 'That path is invalid'. I've searched and searched online to fix this. Everyone says that NA has to have the same content path as Spitfire (it does). The file is there, I can see it, with the nicnt file. I even deleted it, re downloaded it from Spitfire, and Native Access still wont recognise it. I've made sure my disk access is turned on too.

Driving me insane, can anybody help?

NA does not take kindly to any subfolders in the Content path

Can almost guarantee if you close NA and then move this from here:

/Users/Shared/Spitfire Audio/Spitfire Audio Strings

To here:

/Users/Shared/Spitfire Audio Strings

And restart NA - and try again - all will be well.

Re downloaded it from spitfire into Shared….it WORKED! The issue was

The file needed to be on its own in Shared, rather than in a sub folder (as you pointed out)
For some reason, the file was labelled as 'Spitfire Solo Strings', when it was supposed to be labelled 'Spitfire Audio - Solo Strings'. What must've happened is I re-labelled it when trying to fix this same issue before Christmas, and forgotten. Re-downloading set it to its default name. Lesson learned, do NOT mess with the default name of the file.

Off the top of my head - I believe you need to select the top level root folder called "Spitfire Audio Solo Strings" - and do not attempt to go one level "in" (where the .nicnt file is).

Running Monterey may also be a factor that is not helping but should not prevent you from at least selecting the right folder - what version of Kontakt are you running?

Yep I've tried this, it still says 'that path is invalid'. It';s so strange. I've never had this with any other spitfire library. The other odd thing is it says 'add library' rather than 'install'? Ive put the serial number in, it's the latest version of NA and I have Kontakt 8.

I'm wracking my brain trying to work this out, I can't understand why it says that error.

Kontakt 8 is not supported under Monterey - unless you are still running v8.1.0?

And Native Access will always say Add Library - when there is nothing for it to actually install. In this case it is really simply asking you to "locate" the library - which you do via "Add Library".

What exactly does the "parent" folder look like? Is the entire contents of the library (as downloaded from the Spitfire tool) actually present and accounted for? Are there like GB of files in that folder?

Suggest you reach out to Spitfire Support first and then NI support. If this has worked for you in the past - no reason it shouldn't work now - but something is definitely up here.

The parent folder is all there - 43GB of content. Titled 'Spitfire Solo Strings'. The only thing I can think of doing is downloading it AGAIN from spitfire, but I don't know what this would do.

I would not bother with that. And I am still curious about which exact version of Kontakt 8 you are running.

This is something that it appears only support can rectify.

I've also tried an older (blue) version of Native Access, and I get a different error for the same action 'This liobrary path belongs to a different library', which might point us in the right direction; is native access somehow confusing the libraries?

V1 of Native Access is deprecated. That won't have anything to do with this.

Still think your best bet is to consult with support and see what's up.

Do you think its worth me manually moving the Spitfire Solo Strings root folder to another location on my HD, and then trying to guide Native Access to it? I don't really see how that'd make a difference. To me, there's just something really weird going on; the file is there with the nicnt file, and native access just tells me that its invalid. Such a weird bug.

Is the path to this folder contained within the same "Content" path you have here:

In my case (on the actual drive) - it would look like:

L:\Libraries\Native Instruments\Spitfire Solo Strings

All libraries here - that are successfully parsed by NA - must exist directly below:

L:\Libraries\Native Instruments\

With no deviations whatsoever.

Post up a screenshot of your Prefs (as above) and then show me what/where this folder looks like in Finder…with a complete path.

@Ned P Are you installing/locating the libraries on an external hard drive? What format is the drive? On Mac it should be APFS: Notes on Hard Drive Formats on Mac Computers

So bizarre, Did exactly as you said and moved it out into the Shared folder (Users - Shared - Spitfire Solo Strings) and it STILL wont work. It's completely baffling me. The only thing I can think of doing is deleting it, re downloading it from spitfire into that shared folder and trying again.

If anyone else has any tips or things to try, shout me.
