Hi guys, I purchased a second-hand Maschine mk3 from a market, and found there are no licence codes with it, no stickers on box, or underneath of the unit. and cant contact the previous owner as I don't know who they are, and so I cant use it. I have emailed Native Instruments with the serial code as is all I had to send. But I have had no reply. So I have an expensive paperweight now. Can anyone help please.

There is no 'emailing' N.I. to initiate support. The emailing forth and back only happens after that you have used the web-interface to initiate support (made a support ticket).

So if you 'emailed' N.I. and did not get any answer then that is what you should expect because you must contact N.I. using this interface : N.I. Support (all)

In case that you need guidance contacting support : How to contact NI Support and How to get in touch with our Customer Care

    .

If you have already made a ticket using the web support interface then you should expect there to go at least a couple of working days - maybe more since a sale is going on.

You don’t need to buy it.

Just wait for support and you will have Maschine (probably 2) software without spending any more money.

Only then, if you WANT, you can update to Maschine 3 (but, owning Maschine 2, you will have access to better price). Or continue using Maschine 2 (3 doesn’t offer too much)

No lost end. Just wait for support to answer you. Did you manage to open a ticket after the “round in a loop”? Usually when contacting support outside of office time, at the end of the back and forth of questions with the chat bot the option to open a ticket gets presented. Otherwise retry on Monday during office time so that you’ll get prompted to chat with a real person.

Some suggestions to get faster to that point:

Unless you are so rich too to have no problems in spending money just not to wait 2 days.

But…even in this case, be aware that buying directly Maschine 3 without asking for the Maschine 2 which you are entitled to have you will also renounce to Maschine 2 factory library, which includes a lot of kits, sounds, instruments, loops,…

Actually it's not a paperweight and you can use it - just buy the Maschine 3 software.

I didn't say they NEEDED to buy it, just addressing the claims that it can't be used and that it's a paperweight. Buying it is an option.

You could also have claimed it by saying “contact support and try to have access to the software you already have rights to have”. As had already been done.

I wrote my post just because an unaware user could think he needs to buy something, while he doesn’t… not because you said he NEEDS to buy it (which I also didn’t say)

Thanks guys. I did get taken round in a loop trying to contact NI customer support, and found that I may have to buy Maschine 3, but only on the premiss that I was already using Maschine 2. So with the fact I dont have serial codes to even use it. I was at a lost end???

"I wrote my post just because…"

I wrote my post just because an unaware user could think he has a paperweight that he can't use, when actually he can use it by purchasing the software.

The ideal answer would have stated that contacting support is one option, and the second option is to buy the software. Contacting support inevitably involves a wait, especially at weekends and holidays (i.e. this weekend). Purchasing the software means no waiting.

@BIGZ Maschine 3 is available as a full version too (not just an upgrade from Maschine 2)

Thank you for the welcome advice on versions and upgrade options, I shall wait to see if I have any contact with customer support first. Thank you and all on this issue.
