Urgent Issue with Noire (and other libraries) Compatibility After Updates through Native Access

Hi Native Instruments,

I’m reaching out to express my frustration with a significant issue I’ve encountered, one that’s not only hindering my workflow but also jeopardizing my ability to work with previous sessions.

I recently tried reopening older sessions for remixing with Noire—a library I purchased when I was using KONTAKT 6. However, after several updates through Native Access, Noire now only opens in demo mode with a message saying that "my version is too old."

It seems that one or more updates have altered files in Noire itself, rendering it incompatible with the version I bought it with and used it in. This is an incredibly frustrating situation as I now cannot access some of my previous work that I rely on.

The only workaround I’ve found is saving the instruments as a multi and then opening the multi in a newer KONTAKT (7) version to save the session. However, this extra step often creates new problems in my older sessions, making it difficult—if not impossible—to recreate the original mix as it was.

I’ve tried looking for a method to "downgrade" the affected libraries to be compatible with the version they were originally purchased for, but so far, I’ve found no solution.

My biggest concern is that these updates to Noire (and possibly other libraries) have made it practically impossible to use the library with the version I bought it for, and I have to ask: Shouldn’t Native Instruments have informed users beforehand about updates that could render previous work unusable?

Furthermore, the lack of support available—aside from the generic message recommending an upgrade to the latest KONTAKT version—is extremely disappointing. As someone who has paid for your products, this situation is not just inconvenient, it’s demotivating and frankly, it takes away from the creative process. Having to spend time solving compatibility issues on work I’ve already done is not only a waste of time but also a detractor from my creative work.

I strongly believe Native Instruments owes it to its customers to provide a clear solution for backward compatibility with libraries, especially when updates are causing these kinds of problems.

Does anyone have a solution or workaround to make Noire compatible with older versions? And when can we expect a solution from Native Instruments to address this issue?

Thank you,
Raphaël
