About your ideas for Maschine 3
Hi everyone,
With the launch of Maschine 3.0.0 this Wednesday, I wanted to take a moment to highlight that many of the new features came directly from your input in the Ideas section of our community, which we introduced at the end of 2023. Huge thanks to everyone who joined in on the discussions, cast votes, and shared thoughts. If you haven't already, you can check out the full release notes here.
In this update, our product team has worked to balance the top requests from all of you with our own vision for the future of Maschine. Here are some of the most requested features we’ve implemented from the Sequencer & Pattern Editor area:
Plus, we’ve implemented highly requested features in the Assistive playing tools section, like stem separation and the ability to import MP3, MP4, FLAC, and OGG files. We also added basic Kontrol S-Series MK3 integration, which many of you had asked for.
With that, I’d like to announce that the Ideas section is now closed. However, as confirmed by Matthew_NI in the Maschine 3.0 general discussion, we’ll continue rolling out updates in the coming months. Rest assured, your past ideas and votes are safely stored and still very much on our radar.
This thread will be open until Friday, November 15, 2024. If you have any questions about the Ideas section, feel free to ask.

My priority suggestions for Maschine 3:
- Polyphonic aftertouch and full support for KK MKIII
- Automation editing for M+ standalone
- Round robin feature addition to the Maschine sampler
- Native support for MIDI bank/program change messages in M+ standalone

Maschine+ 2.18.4 update please, including bug fixes and improvements. Consider it the ‘final’ version 2 release, compatible with the latest Maschine 2.0 for dekstop.
After that I’ll wait and see what’s ported to M+ or not. I didn’t buy a standalone device to only use it as a controller. So I really would like to see better standalone-and-desktop integration.
I don’t consider Maschine SW as my main DAW on desktop anytime soon.

Yes, I agree it would be unfortunate if NI only integrated the long overdue M+ fixes (MOTU, Link etc) into the Maschine 3 compatibility - unless of course the update did not not break compatibility with Maschine 2.
I'm thinking about the Traktor features that were added to the subscription, and the fix for the flashing browser only being made available in the upgrade to Traktor 4.
Perhaps the core fixes could be made available separately from the "3 compatible" update?

I believe polyphonic aftertouch support is under consideration atm. As for the Kontrol S-Series MK3, the integration might not be as deep as with the MK2 at first, but we'll definitely keep improving it over time.

Suggestions for a future Update:
Extend the internal Sound Generation palette with a comprehensive 2-Operator FM and more FM machines like the Digitone. The Drums Bass and Synth modules are great but limiting.

Maschine 3.0 Bug report: when adding samples to "user content", the re-tag and rename function does not work properly. One can rename and apply, but the changes don't take effect in the browser, added samples stay in the category "other".

I ask for the possibility of using one of the two screens of the M+ to display a frequency analyzer (multiband even better) and a tuner (guitar rig type) to identify notes and keys of sounds/samples.
Am I off track?6 -
by selecting events with hardware (Maschine mk3)
also an option for note preview sound like desktop-software

Additional Drumsynth & Synth Engines would probably be a welcome addition to the urgently needed quality of life updates Maschine 3.0 will need. I would not complain if I got FM Drums or a few extra lightweight synth voices similar to bass synth and poly synth. Or heck, even additional FX would be neat.

- ability to create custom user's chord sets (as for beginning may be just by editing some json file or something like that, then it can be implemented in GUI)
- capture like in Ableton (shift+some button (Auto?) or some of upper screen buttons)

Custom Chords you say? Hmmm. Let's see what v3.1 looks like …

My vote goes to the sampler. Spend an entire sprint or 5 just on the sampler.
Here's your user story:
I'm a user and have several samplers available in my DAW. I'm in a position where I want to use a sampler. I'll load maschine as a VST just to use the sampler because it has the most amount of options for samplers in this class without being as complicated as products like kontakt or halion.
I'm not going into a bunch of details about individual features (I can if needed; but I wrote about them in the sampler suggestion thread). Currently, I wouldn't pick maschine's sampler over any other sampler I have. You have people using maschine and loading 3rd party samplers to make up for the lack of features (mainly just serato sample's time/pitch stretch).
Secondary mention to the new modulators in Cubase. It sure would be kind of amazing to move all LFOs/envelopes out of elements like the sampler, filter, etc. and then create a "modulators" section on the channel page for each sound. Let me add as many LFOs and Envelopes as I want (or even limit to 16 for each sound). Even better if those modulators were just reaktor ensembles and we could build our own. Even, even better if NI would also build some and offer them inside of expansions. Create another tab for something like "generative" and have the same concept; but sending midi into the sound. Now sell me me all sorts of crazy sequencers I can add directly to a sound that are built in reaktor. Take my money.
I mention modulators because I want more LFOs in the sampler; but moving them out of the sampler is probably a better direction. Using reaktor links in one of your products. Companies love making ecosystems. It would probably going to force you to write code to allow midi out of plugins (another long standing request). Code with the expectation of supporting 3rd party tools later; but just focus on reaktor at the start. Easier to troubleshoot your own products.

I love @darkwaves idea of Modulator Modules. The only problem I see is how you would make it simple to select modulation targets - especially from the controller. With just a couple of Modulators, it could become confusing quite easily.

Modulators would go on sounds. You get a max of 16. When on the modulators page, each pad is a modulator. They can only modulate items in their own sound slot. The menu could look very similar to what we have for setting up midi devices in the settings menu. Pick a device using buttons at the top. You pick "filter". Knob 1 could be destination. It lists all destinations for the filter on module you have on the sound slot. You pick "cutoff". Knob 2 could be "enable/Disable". You enable the modulator for the filter's cutoff. Knob 3 could be something like amount. You have 5 more knobs to play with.
Want a new modulator? Hit pad 2.
In other words; everything on the sound slot is in the list. You just filter to get to the destination you're after. For mouse/keyboard; they can make this much easier with "learn" buttons. For hardware, use menus.
Regarding the discussion about maschine being "daw-lite". I wouldn't expect for them to match all of the functionality you'd get from modulators in something like Bitwig. Maybe individual users might go out of their way making crazy stuff in reaktor; but I'd expect a somewhat basic implementation. If they later want to have a custom envelope shape or something; I'm fine with it being software/mouse/keyboard only. I don't think it should be priority now. That's a 2029 update.
