    I have a permament:

    • please login again
    • loading products eternally
    • not able to add new serials
    • not able to download a library

    experience / odyssey.

    NA hasn't worked for me reliably for more than 1 year now. I'm not even gonna start with Kontakt 7...

    This isn't funny anymore.

    I really wonder: what's the deal with NI software constantly deteriorating?

    I have the deamon turned off at startup in Win10. So it's not running 24/7. No ill effects. I have had it set this way since Feb. Not using NI so much anymore, so don't know if this has any valid bearing

    Curious oddity though.

    The deamon doesn't fire up when I put an instance of Kontakt in my DAW

    The deamon DOES fire up when when I open the standalone

    You should either seek support (N.I. Native Access and Installation Support) or open a new thread of your own over in the Native Access sub-forum and give all necessary information including computer type , OS version , Native Access version , Kontakt version , and any other info that might be of help including error messages, an eventual screenshot of problem and what you have done to troubleshoot so far!

    It appears (from your profile info) as you are using Windows 10 and I and a lot of other Windows 10 users I am sure can not recognize those experiences. Not suggesting that you do not have them , merely that it would be that more beneficial for all parties (Native Access including) to get to the bottom of that !

    Also : there has just been introduced chat support for Native Access assistance (at least daytime on normal work days) :

    Quote : For assistance with purchases, accounts, and Native Access, you'll have an option to initiate a chat session. Simply click on the chat icon located at the bottom right corner, and you'll be assisted by a virtual assistant. If your issue remains unresolved after consulting our help articles, a human chat agent will be available to assist you.

    Please refer to the page : How to get in touch with our Customer Care or read my Support page functionality changes post here !

    "I think what happens is these licencing queries result in looping unresolved behaviour. It seems to have major difficulties with Blue Cat and UAD"

    Does this mean you are actually seeing UAD plugin names (and .JSON files) being scanned/created/listed in your daemon.log file?

    I have a truckload of UAD here too. They are not NKS compliant and as such - make no appearance in my logs and have no associated JSON files either.

    Just want to verify your observations here. Maybe I actually do want to see your log files now :)

    It's not quite that simple, which is why I'd like someone who is far more experienced in reading these things to have a look. I sent two to Hayo_NI, but I'm not expecting him to be in any way transparent, as I'm incredibly suspicious about the activity shown not only in the NTK Daemon logs but what is shown in Process Monitor. In Process Monitor it shows constant rescanning of Blue Cat, Flux and UAD files, but there are others as well. Only NKS compatible files result in a JSON file. NTK Daemon in the logs seems to go through practically every thing and checking activation and often declaring 'Likely using a different user account'. My ability to read them is not good, for a start they are 10MB's and seem endless.

    The other thing to perhaps take into account is that for NA2, it is the NTK Daemon doing this, but Maschine, Kontakt and KK do the same thing, sometimes without and sometimes with NTK Daemon seemingly in concert. I'll pm you a couple of logs, they RAR down to less than a MB.

    Thank you so much for your input.

    When this happens, the NI advice is to uninstall the NTK Daemon and install the latest NA2

    This can sometimes work for me, but you tend to have to 'let it settle' and then keep trying till it opens as it should.

    Never try to do anything useful with it if the busy GIF is active as it's scanning your VST 3 folder possibly and things just screw up then.

    I'd be interested to know what problems you are having with Kontakt and what your load times are.

    I will give this a try, but I don't have much hope this will work...

    EDIT: nope didn't work.

    EDIT2: all of a sudden, downloads start working. Waiting seems to be the solution...

    BTW, here's the Kontakt 7 issue I was referring to:

    My loading times of Kontakt 7 are about 1-3 minutes. That's the time it takes for the first instance to load in my DAW or the standalone version. Opening the GUI itself takes always around 10 seconds.

    Since NI highly encourages sample developers to make use of Kontakt 7 (basically forcing users to switch to K7) it's almost impossible to purchase K6 only libraries, anymore. I would not care if K7 was actually working. But it isn't. So I'm avoiding it for the time being, until NI gets their ****** together.

    The nature of this suggestion is a good one, however, I have contacted NI in the past about a Native Access problem and while they were doing their best to help, they cannot fix broken software issues.

    As no one (correction - most are not) is mentioning their system I'm wondering if issue is OS related...

    I.E.

    on a PC? Woe to thee.

    on a Mac? We've got your back!

    or Windows version related...

    I'm using Window 11 and it works but it has issues.

    I do have both Blue Cat & UAD plugins (and a ****** ton of others).

    Just wondering...

    BTW I previously had severe issues with the NA and Kontakt 7 (Kontakt 6 works fine) and the below information is a distillation of various fixes that were suggested. They did help. Performance is still under par but not horrendous as it was previously.

    Though mainly Kontakt 7 related, might perhaps the info might help those who have Native Access issues as well.

    *********************************************************

    How to fix long load time for Kontakt (Windows)

    Reset the Service Center .XML files manually

    1.   Navigate to C:/Program Files/Common Files/Native instruments/Service Center

    2.   Move the .xml files in this folder to the trash.

    3.   After this is done, launch Native Access to create a new set of .xmls and restart your computer.

    4.   Try opening KONTAKT again to see if the issue has been resolved.

    Reinitialize the KONTAKT Database

    1.   Click the Windows start button at the bottom left of your screen.

    2.   Type "%localappdata%" and click the option that appears.

    3.   Navigate to the Native Instruments folder.

    4.   Then delete the following folder:

    KONTAKT 7: "Kontakt 7"

    5.   Start KONTAKT 7 in standalone mode (not in your DAW). If KONTAKT still crashes, proceed with the next chapter.

    Note that once the XMLs and Database has been reset, please be sure to open the Kontakt standalone app first. The first load time may take longer, but once the database has been rebuilt, the load times should be much faster going forward.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    If the issue persists, first please delete the User Registry entries of Native Access and the TKDaemon:
    1.   Click the Windows Start button at the bottom left side of your screen.
    2.   Type "regedit" into the search field, then press Enter to open the Windows Registry Editor.
    3.   In the Registry Editor, navigate the folder structure to this location and locate the folder for the NI product that is crashing:
    4.   HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Native Instruments >
    5.   Delete the "Native Access" and the "NTK" entries
    Then please clear the Native Access cache by deleting the following folders:
    1.   Click the Windows Start Button on the bottom left of your screen.
    2.   Type %localappdata% and press Enter.
    3.   This will open the following folder location: C: > Users > *Your User Name* > AppData > Local
    4.   go into the Native Instruments directory and delete the "Native Access" and the "NTK" folders
    Trouble is, there’s so many different combinations of hardware on a windows PC.
    For example:
    I have no problem.
    Here’s my 13 year old system, and there’s probably very few, if any with exactly the same setup.
    Windows 10 Pro
    C drive is a 4 TB M.2 drive installed on a PCIe expansion card.
    Also have another two SATA SSD drives
    I have my S88 mk3 plugged into a PCIe USB C expansion slot
    6 core processor, Intel Core i7-3930k, LGA2011
    64 GB DDR3 Ram
    Asus p9x79 motherboard
    AMD 8GB RX480 graphics card
    Focusrite Sapphire pro 40 audio interface
    Then there’s the different software we have running, anti viruses, Graphics card bloated software, Audio inerface software etc
    Kontakt 7 takes well over 3 minutes to load for me and if I open any project files in Maschine using Kontakt 7 that time is added on to the file's opening time.
    What it is doing is rifling through my VST3 folders for no good reason, just as happens for some with NA2.
    Maschine and KK both do this for me too.
    Total disaster, and none are very helpful about it.
    The inference is it is some rogue plugins or 'my configuration'
    Whilst it more than likely is triggered by a reaction to some plugin, it is their code that is executing these searches and that is written into their code by them, not some rogue plugin....
    Why?
    It's all looking very suspicious indeed, trouble is getting a useful response from anyone involved in these fiascos.
    @ AxeHandle
    I have 396 XML files in the Service Centre folder... I should delete all of these?
    Where did you get the suggestions for fixing Kontakt?
    I, and others, have complained about the load times for Kontakt on the Beta forum, yet no useful suggestions ensued................................
    My system is Windows 10, Dual 8 core Xeons, 48 GB DDR3 RAM, 750 GB SCSI SSD, 3 x 3TB SCSI 7200 HD
    I don't know if this is making and excuse but VSL and IK seem to have gotten it right. Eventually NA is going to hurt NI financially if this app experiences constant issues. There are library developers rolling their own player and libraries and people with ditch NI because of NA.
    When people want a timely fix posting links that are old just doesn't work.
    Google Native Access sucks and there are 26 million hits. The world is small in this forum.
    Why can't the look at the old version is see what's right instead of continually creating more wrong. If this wasn't in a small industry that pro audio is they would either have to be firings since there would be a serious loss of revenue. Imagine if this were in the security industry. Epic fail.
    Can't look at the old version because it is a completely different code base with a different way of doing just about everything. I've only rewritten an app once in my life, and it wasn't completely from scratch. I reused a lot of code and also redid some to varying degress, including some completely fresh. I can't look at the old version to fix problems in the new one because they are not compatible. Even the code that was largely copied at the start has been modified enough now as I've added features and enhanced existing ones that trying to patch it with old code would be more likely to break something than fix anything.
    The way to fix things in new code is to focus on the new code. Not try to force it into the shape of old code.
    I'll reiterate what I've posted elsewhere on this forum. Although there are a plethora of issues with NA 2 (which does beg the question of why they keep releasing what appear to be severely untested versions of it), there is a common issue with the four main NI apps as they appear to have made a decision to do a pre-emptive scan in all these apps…..quite why, they could do with being honest about because few can understand why NA2 and Kontakt should have to rifle through your VST3 folders.
    In my case, this scan has trouble with plugins by Blue Cat, UAD, and Flux. There are others, but less easy to spot. They can't seem to resolve, so the scan endlessly scans them.
    Hence, some are less affected than others. It seems to depend partly on how many plugins you have and which. Seems bad to have trouble with UAD plugs given they are a major player……………
    I don't suppose there's any chance of some transparency here NI is there????????????
