Everything had been working until a windows update yesterday. Now maschine hardware crashes (actually fails during load). Oddly enough, the Kontakt application will launch, inspite of it looking like that is the offending module

My Laptop

  • Audio / Midi: USB-B -> USB-C Roland FP90x

If I move the "Kontakt 7.vst3" from within program files/common file/vst3 to another folder, and Launch Maschine it will load so the problem is more likely than not with that file (as indicated by the error message).

Reinstallink Kontakt (through Native Acess) did not make a difference. This maybe this ticket should co-tag kontakt, but i cannot edit the original ticket at this point.

You can maybe try this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-811816c0-4dfd-af4a-47e4-c301afe13b26#:~:text=Go%20to%20Start%20%3E%20Settings%20%3E%20Update,%2C%20file%20types%2C%20or%20process.

the pictures above show all native stuff i have on the list in order to make the stuff work

@Tbreezy Have you tried these steps? MASCHINE Crashes

I see that you contacted our support, I'm adding the info you provided here to your ticket.

Yes with no affect. Like I said if I move only the Kontakt 7.vst3 file from the scan path and leave everything else in there, then Maschine loads fine. But you Kontakt is fairly essential to the product suite... That indicates some conflicts with that file in particular

How did you determine that you needed to do all that? I'll give it a try!

On my computer a pop up window opened up after opening some programs for the first time, that some app was prevented from doing it's thing, after clicking on it, I came to a block list, where I then could say allow it. That happens if a program wants to write in some protected folders as far as I know.

Can you check the version of the Kontakt 7 vst3 file? Is it the same as the standalone one?

Try also these steps: KONTAKT Crashes

I am going to need a little guidance to answer that. I don't see where this file is versioned

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Kontakt 7.vst3"

further it is a very different file than this file

    "C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7\Kontakt 7.exe"

outside of the naming how might I check the version? I reinstalled Kontakt and they both have the same modified date (7/14/2023) if that is an indicator. @Jeremy_NI is there a different way to look at the version? Is there a tool I can use to open and inspect the vst file? I am fairly technical (but not a windows user) in my day job w/ 30 years of software engineering and architecture. I am happy to do some inspections if an engineer can provide some guidance...

How do I tie those things together - the support ticket leaves a lot to be desired. The intake form is not sufficient for significant feedback and honestly there deosn't seem to be any way to get status on them... or provide an update. I just noticed that there is a new version of kontakt available, so I am giving that an install, but looking at the release notes it doesn't mention fixing any compatibility bugs, so i am skeptical

after update I am still crashing at load:

On windows you simply go to the file with the file browser, right click on it, select properties, then details - there you normally see the version. In your crashlog all seems to be the latest versions. but pls check the files itself as jeremy asked for.

file version doesn't seem to be an option in the default windows 11 file properties. Powershell has an ansswer though

    PS C:\Users\tbrow> (Get-Command "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Kontakt 7.vst3")
    CommandType     Name                                               Version    Source
    -----------     ----                                               -------    ------
    Application     Kontakt 7.vst3                                     7.5.2.0    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Kontakt 7.vst3

    PS C:\Users\tbrow> (Get-Command "C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7\Kontakt 7.exe")
    CommandType     Name                                               Version    Source
    -----------     ----                                               -------    ------
    Application     Kontakt 7.exe                                      7.5.2.0    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7\Kontakt 7.exe

@Jeremy_NI is that helpful? I assume that is the version number(s) you are looking for. Let me know if there is something else I can do diagnostically. Like i said I am open to installing a vst debugger / profiler...

I have uninstalled windows updates... still doesn't work. Also added virus exceptions for Maschine 2.0, the common VST3 folder, and scanpluginsapp... nothing seems to work.

I am not even sure if I do a factory reset and reinstall from scratch whether this will work/ @Jeremy_NI asking (again) if there is anyway I can speak with an engineer. or add some diagnostic software...

I removed the Kontakt 7.vst3 from the common files directory (just to confirm one last time) that Maschine Loads - and infact it does. That VST3 file is an important one for all the instruments. So that is not a workable (nevermind acceptable) answer.

Per my pal who works in the industry it may be related to a Direct-X update. So I am attaching Direct-X Diagnostic stuff:

I don't see anything in this attached txt dump that is dated to the time of the issue. But also I dont konw what to look for besides dates

I also installed FL Studio, and that seems to load all the VST3s fine. It also load maschine as a plugin, which also looks to add all the VST3s fine too. I don't know how to use that software - but the demo track is playing. I can browse to and load Vintage Organs, the sample sound playes, but I have no idea how to load it onto a track... ...wait figured it out. Was able to load a Kontakt play with scarbee electric pianos and sequence something quickly and it worked.

This looks to be something between Maschine 2 sw and Kontakt 7.vst3 and my machine...
