traktor 3.6.1 issues with rane twelve mk2

RANE support first sent me an email that it might take longer for someone to get in touch with me and three days later i got an automatic message that i hadn't gotten in touch and should open the ticket again if i did haven't solved the problem yet. Despite the new opening I'm still waiting for an answer.
I think they don't get the point...
it would be good if we could summarize all our ticket numbers from RANE support here. Then we write to them that we all have the same problem so they can better understand what is going on.

Yesterday i got my final answer from InMusic about my support ticket. Unfortunately, it took ages before I had an answer that really related to the problem. On top of that it was meaningless and not much can be expected from Rane in this regard.
Here is the answer from the support:
As Traktor is a 3rd party software that we do not provide direct support on, I am unable to provide you with immediate solutions to resolve this error. I apologise for the inconvenience as I understand that this is not ideal.
However, I've logged your comments & extensive reports into our system to be delivered directly to our product managers, and members of our development team, ensuring that they receive the widest audience possible. Any future software updates will be acknowledged in our firmware release notes which can be found on our website HERE
As an alternative, I would suggest using your unit with Serato DJ Pro.

@Allan_NI is there any news from your side?

I started a thread in the ideas section to collect votes for a HID integration. We need 30 votes for the topic to be looked at by the developers. Please also leave your vote there so that we hopefully only have to connect our RANE Twelves MKII via USB in the future and can enjoy all the advantages of HID. I strongly assume that this will also solve all of our problems that we currently have with the cinch wires.

If you are still in any Facebook groups or have other colleagues who are also using Traktor along with the RANE Twelves MKII it would be cool if you could let them know.
Thanks!

I'm sorry but I switched to virtual dj because it has a lot more integrations with third party hardware. moreover virtual dj has a very special customer service, I can talk to them in chat directly and if I have a problem they solve it in 24 hours by bringing out a new release of the program. I will only consider going back to Traktor if there is a new z2 or some battle mixer, and when motorized jogs for Rane one or rev 7 are supported. good luck with the traktor.

Sounds like the output signal for the Traktor Timecode on the Rane Twelve is too high pre-DAC. That is a problem only Rane can fix.
1 -
Interesting point. So you think that there is too much voltage on the signal or pre-amps and that's why there are problems? It's possible to adjust the Traktor Timecode signal on the RANE Twelve MKII, e.g. reduce the output in percentage steps (90% / 80%, etc.) But based on your description I'm not quite sure whether this would affect the end result. At least not in practice, I have already tested all signal strengths there and the problem has not changed.
Edit: I agree that the problem is probably mostly with RANE, but I'm hoping for input from NI as they are probably the best way to draw attention to the fact that there are problems. Finally, RANE sells hardware with the promise that it can be used with Traktor and unfortunately that is not the case.

I believe that the timecode audio they use might be recorded at too high of a level. I don’t know what they are using to play the audio signal internally, but if the source audio is clipped it won’t matter what the level is adjusted to.
if the source audio isn’t clipped, and the volume adjustment is pre-DAC, then it’ll be a different issue.
I wonder if Rane is using a license version of the Traktor timecode signal or a home brew?
1 -
Ah, ok, now I see what you mean. Thanks for the explanation!
I assume that RANE needs a licensed version of the timecode signal. There is also factory mapping in the Controller Manager by Traktor for the devices. There was definitely some kind of licensing procedure involved in order for the deal to come about at all.

Rane took 2 weeks for my ticket response (#374589). And guess what, they blame NI. Long story short: They bring a not cheap product into the market which is not properly working as they state it should.

In regards to your previous message, I'll be happy to pass your comments regarding this setup to our development team for further investigation. I've logged comments & extensive reports into our system to be delivered directly to our product managers, and members of our development team, ensuring that they receive the widest audience possible. With the above in mind, please do note that Traktor is not one of our own products and so updates made regarding Software compatibility may often be implemented from the original developers.
Thank you for getting in touch, If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Yeah, nothing new there...
This was the last response i received from the Rane support:

There seems to be a firmware update available for the Twelve MKii.
Couldn't find info releases notes though. :(
edit: lol, mine seems to run that firmware already.

Thanks for the info. I considered buying Twelve's for Traktor DVS but now I'm changing my mind.
