Scenes clips and patterns? What's the difference? Recording perform fx and adding punchlines?
Suppose you have your scenes and patterns laid out, but you want to add a variation on a punchline. Is the best way to create a different pattern with the punchline? When recording perform fx how do you say make it record only at the end of a scene because when I record it I find the automation just takes place all over the scene instead of where I recorded it. What is the difference between a clip and a pattern? Tried google searches but I am finding information kind of hard to come by for such a popular device.

- Best way is the one that fits you. Clips are a possibility, making a scene Unique another,…
- Your perform FX automation is not only at the end of the scene probably because your scene is composed by patterns that repeats themselves (cause they are shorter than the scene). If you’ll make your pattern long as the scene, automation will happen only where you recorded it
- A clip can be moved “freely” in the timeline (e.g. it can start at the end of another instrument pattern but continue on the beginning of another pattern. Think a riser: it can start at the end of the intro but continue on the start of verse 1). Patterns are more bounded to “borders’
I tried to explain quickly and shortly. If you need more clarification let me know 😉

And can you lock the notes that are used with the notes function? I mean so you don't have to hold them down for the notes function to use them?

Automation of Mute and Solo is not possible. It’s a long standing feature request.

You mean latching? It’s a setting in the arpeggiator.

Ah, I see… I don’t think you can latch notes on the touch strip.
Have you tried activating the Arp in addition to using the touch strip?
