Looking for an NKS2 Compatible Sampler that loads .sf2 files

Hi,

I never thought I'd need to get on a forum to ask this, but I'm looking for an NKS2 compatible sampler that loads .sf2 files.

Has anybody seen any?

I'm having problems mapping controls of Sforzando to my S49 MK3. I'm guessing it's not NKS2 compatible…. Don't really want to pay for Halion, but I guess I will if I have to.

It's pretty sad that soundfonts don't have more support. Also, I find it odd that Kontakt doesn't import 3rd party formats anymore… If I have to, I can just use FL Studio, as it loads .sf2 files just fine, but I'm wishing I had the ability to use NKS with it….

I do not have the deep enough understanding of the whole NKS (I really need a boost there since I want to add NKS for some things I have) , so this is just me taking a wild guess (so sorry if it is not fitting for your purpose) , but I noticed that TAL-Sampler (quote "Import Sf2" is in the preset menu) apparently have at least some NKS ability via JesterMGee's FreelanceSoundLabs but I honestly do not understand enough of it to know if this has any real relevance in connection with your question ? (NKS vs NKS2 and add-in of SF2 files)

I do not use this plugin but had a look at it and it looks like it can definitely be made to work with Komplete Kontrol. For example with just the demo instrument it comes with here you can see I've mapped the OSCs and the rest would be just as easy (just using the NKS learn functions in KK, but looking at the other example instruments each one has its own layout so I presume would need custom mappings. However the method is easy enough - map the instrument to suit your needs, save each mapping as its own .nksf preset.

btw it looks like the default param name for OSC 2 fine is incorrectly labelled as 'OSC 1 detune', but that can easily be corrected

@Kymeia oh wait, that's Sforzando you're using. My problem with that is, if I load a soundfont without using a preset, nothing's mapped. And I have been able to map some, but not all controls. I can't seem to map SEND(CC91). I've tried assigning Macro_091 to it, but that doesn't work. And if I understand correctly, KK's internal mapping doesn't use CCs anyway?

It's using host automation, which is higher res. Yeah doesn't look like send is assigned an automation ID for host automation but maybe ask Plogue why not?

Yes, they seem to have done it for pretty much everything else, it seems an odd omission so might just be an oversight. Plogue are usually pretty good at responding to support requests in my experience

According to Plogue it's a limitation on NI's side and Plogue doesn't plan to do anything about it, not that I'm expecting they could, but it still felt like they told me to go kick rocks 🙃

I guess I'll grab a demo of TAL Sampler…

I don't see how, this is about which params are exposed to the host for automation, which affects any host. I can't add send in Live either for example using host automation - it is just hardwired to respond to MIDI cc

@PoorFellow TAL Sampler seems to just load it as a single .wav and let's you choose a single instrument in the soundfont. looks like you have to manually set regions for the remaining sounds….

I guess I'll just stick with FL Studio and make some sort of MIDI Template…

NN-XT actually works fine. Too bad I can't get the NKS for Reason to work since the 3.4 update.

I guess I'll have to wait on support to learn to use that.

OK started on this but none of the remote editor controls are mappable - why? Only the global controls can be automated.
