Small Grey Square appears when trying to load Logic/Ableton project containing Maschine

When trying to open an existing project containing Maschine in either Logic or Ableton, the project will not load - instead a small grey box appears on the screen (see attachment), which is moveable w the mouse - and the message "Busy…See Software" appears on the screen of Maschine Mikro Mk3.

I can load Maschine software standalone with no issues, similarly I can create an instance of Maschine in a new Logic or Ableton project without issue, however if I try to load any of hundreds of past project files containing Maschine - they will not load and instead get stuck on the "Grey Square".

If I delete Maschine from my system, all projects load without issue (however, also without Maschine). I've tried re-installing the latest version of Maschine 2 as well as downgrading to 2.17, but all with the same result. Any assistance greatly appreciated - thank you!
