Why has Maschine been taking sometimes over 10 minutes to open?

With a patch on my left eye…but the right one wide open to not be blind to what happens ☺️
(I’m quite sure tempsperdu will love this quote ☺️)

I know NI have stated that they're going to look at speeding things up by parallel scanning or something, but what really needs to happen is removal of the startup scanning process completely.
As a comparison, Adobe Audition opens in five seconds, yet it has access to all my VSTs.
It has a plug-in manager, where I can add VST folder locations, a searchable list of all the plugins, with tick boxes to enable/disable each one, then Name, Type, Status, Version and Path.
There's an option to scan for plugins, and another tick box "rescan existing plugins" which means that a scan will only add new plugins unless that box is ticked.
Most (all?) non-NI software works this way.

Only NI seem to somehow bizarrely think there's is a worthwhile approach. How it can be seen to speed things up is open to question, but apparently the decision has been made by whoever makes this decision and intransigence rules..........................................

@tempsperdu The long scan happens often or is it every single time you launch Maschine/KK?
Have you tried moving the scanapp.exe somewhere else to block the software from scanning? Not sure if this works in your case and it's def not a permanent solution but could at least alleviate some frustration, if I had to wait 20min each time I launch an app I'd lose the will to be creative by time its ready.

These are roughly the times:
NA2 can be 'busy' for just over 10 mins before being usable for updates, scanning plugins it in the main can't use, though if I'm 'lucky' it can be as little as just over 7 minutes. I believe the worst so far was about 14 mins.
Kontakt 7 takes approx 3m 20s to open, either as standalone or within a DAW, loading a second instance is pretty much instantaneous. If I load a project file that contains an instance of Kontakt 7 then that additional 3m 20s will be added on to the opening time of Maschine.
Kontakt 6 is instantaneous in all cases, proving that evolution is definitely on track, albeit in the wrong direction perhaps.........
KK, I never use but takes between 4m 20s and 6m 30s, last attempts I made.
Maschine is now all over the place. It starts with 'Awaiting Product Scan' on the splash screen, whilst in the background it can take from just over 3 mins to over 18 mins, scanning and rescanning my VST3 folder, sometimes on its own, and sometimes holding hands with the NTK Daemon. After this, we have about 90 seconds of the world-famous, seemingly unfixable, Maschine rescanning bug. Sometimes hitting ESC can curtail this, sometimes it just causes the splash screen to grey out. Then we get the Opening GUI notification, which can be relatively quick if loading an empty project but can take anything from 3 minutes, to far, far longer depending on what's in it. If it's got Kontakt 7 with a light library then about 3m 20s but if there are heavy libraries, a lot longer, though I expect and accept that.
If Scan App is available in task manager, I end it, but usually these days it's not.
I'll try moving it somewhere, but I live in fear of accidentally inducing a full rescan, as sometimes happens for no reason, because that's 2–3 hours.
I'm certain that in most cases having the option to not scan unless there's a new addition or update would cease most people's problems, and I would have thought it shouldn't be that hard or time-consuming to implement, after all no one complains about Kontakt 6 load times.
Given the whole clip fiasco has made Maschine a lot slower for some users, having further slow-downs isn't engendering that warm and fuzzy feeling....................
The NI programmes are slower to scan than most others anyway, and it's a tad disturbing that when other apps have to scan NI apps, they tend to struggle a lot and take absolutely ages.
