works in airplane mode once you've downloaded the neural network package.

Stem separation is a nice gimmick but it can sound hideous / artefacty af at times
I thought everyone was kind of over it by now to be honest

Guess you have to be really into sampling to get it.
But, it isn't standalone?
In which case it wouldn't be much use to me anyway.

It’s coming as a VST on desktop, then to standalone MPCs.
The sound quality seems good based on initial videos on YouTube. I can’t wait. I have had a Maschine and Machine+ for years but I bought an MPC One over the summer and I couldn’t be happier.

Wait why I can't I upvote this AND mark it was funny?

I normally use Serato and it's pretty dope, 8GB but no graphics card or crazy hardware requirements.
I just can't see AKAI marketing something that required internet connectivity to function, activation sure, but not to work. No MPC One user would accept having to get to an ethernet cable to use stem sep.
I think it's just going to be slower on some standalone units than others. And I'm sure there will be a flood of posts about how slow it is to process.

I been saying that for a few years now, sad man jus sad. 😞

Still have it and probably will keep it, too… but in the meantime I’ve also bought Akai’s MPC software for desktop for around 70 bucks, and mapped my controller to it. And I do agree, it’s another workflow, but one I’m happy to get used to (also on a new MPC device).
For this STEMS add-on, it comes first to desktop in February and after that to ‘standalone’:

Watching these vids again, I just realized that none of them are showing stems on the actual standalone hardware. All the vids I've seen so far the hardware is just being used as a controller for the desktop version of MPC.
Accurate Beats did a video and for a 2 minute audio clip, it took a minute on whatever PC they are using to process the clip. Interesting indeed.

yeah, im not into stem separation personally, but it sure is a very cool feature.
what it shows, is that akai still developing and investing in their mpc platform. if you compare it to maschine, you would have to assume, that the maschine platform is at the end of it's cycle. i dont know if they are gonna work on it anymore tbh. even though we have the new "improvements" thread. i would make a bet, that none of the suggestions will be implemented in a near future – sad to see.

That’s exactly why I’m really looking forward to these topics:

From what I heard, PC version is Feb and Standalone is in March.
The videos are testing a beta PC version, is it unreasonable to think that a beta standalone version could exist as well?

Now I love mine One+ even more :D

Maybe we should just wait and see… because even IF it’s not fully standalone then it’s still an great new feature when seamlessly integrated into the MPC platform.
Maybe the PC should (better) be used for completing the task on complex and larger audio samples, but than again, Koala managed to do it ‘offline’ on an iPad for almost a year already.
And, with probably some new MPCs at the horizon these kind of tasks won’t be PC-only. With the MPC platform on both, nicely integrated with their entire line of hardware devices (so broadly supported) they show exactly what NI should do (or have done?) with Maschine.
