Your version of Kontakt is too old - How do I solve this problem?
When trying to load Noire and several other instruments in Kontakt, I get an error message that says "Your version of Kontakt is too old to load this file. Please update to the latest version."
I have re-installed both Kontakt and Noire and the problem persists.
What is even stranger is that when I open a project that had Noire loaded in Kontakt before this problem occurred, the instrument loads with no problems. This problem therefore only occurs when I tried to load a new instance of Noire (and several other instruments).
The notes at the bottom of the Kontakt window also suggest that Noire is "not supported" - see photo.
Please can you help urgently. I am in the middle of a big project which I need to finish, but can't progress.

If you are in the middle of a big project then you need to be careful updating and converting (?) . (always a good idea to take backups and what not!)(better safe than sorry)

thanks for your advice I managed to solve it. the plug in settings were fine so I deactivated it and then reactivated it and everything was fine. Thank you so much you were better than the support who was unable to advise me.

What I can't understand though, is that when I load an old project where I used Noire, it loads fine, and I can play it no problem. But when I try to add a new track within that project and select Noire through Kontakt, I get the error message saying it's too old to load it. Something about that says this is a bug, rather than anything to do with software versions. What do you think?

No it's not a bug - it's because the old track recognises it uses Kontakt 6 but the new track expects Kontakt 7.

Shouldn’t it be the other way? If new version of Noire is installed (the one requiring K7), trying to open an already saved instance that was using k6 shouldn’t work (or try to migrate it to k7), while adding a new instance should directly load it in k7 and therefore not having problems

I'm so confused. I have Kontakt 6 (v6.8.0), Kontakt 7 (v7.6.1) and Komplete Kontrol. When I tried and load Noire in any of these instances it doesn't load. I either get the error message in posted at the start of this thread, or in the case of Komplete Kontrol I get the error "Plugin not found. Please open the standalone application to rescan, or recan manually in the Plug-in preferences."
And yet, when I open the old project where I loaded Noire in Kontakt v6.8.0 in loads fine.
Just won't let me do it again, using any of the instances above.

Just out of curiosity (and hoping maybe it can help someone more expert to narrow down the causes): what happens if you try to duplicate one of the pre existing working tracks?
(it could also serve you as a momentary workaround to add more tracks containing Kontakt in case it is working)

Thanks. Yes, I can duplicate it and that works. But the problem is, I'm working in a new project where I need to create new instances.

I haven't tried this yet. I will investigate it though. So far, I've only ever installed products via Native Access. If I download these files do they load into Native Access in the same way?

I have to say that since I never tried then I don't know , but my guess that if you just install it on top of the other without uninstalling the prior version then it most likely will work. All I know is that a lot of people download the libraries and install them and apparently get it to work , but since I have never seen any thing about method used then I can not say that I know for sure !

Workaround would be that when you want to start a new project you open instead an existing one with the working instances, delete everything except the working track, save it as new (maybe also keeping it like this as a sort of “template”) and then when you need a new track you duplicate the working one instead of trying to make a brand new one
But I’m sure if you install the working old version you’ll solve your problem. Procedure should be to just double click on the installer and install from there. Once you open Native Access it should recognize and authorize the installation. Only thing would be not reinstalling the update from there.
All of this of course just to be able to allow you to work again immediately, hoping in the meanwhile NI fixes thing…

I was having issues with not able to do updates or install apps after I switched my Mac to Sonoma.
I fixed the problem by downgrading Native Access 2 to Native Access 1. I was able to update all of my Virtual Instruments and all my Kontak Apps.
This worked 100% for me and will be my solution to stay current until NI can make their Native Access 2 app useful.
Unfortunately, NI does not let me put the link here because I am too new to the forum, but if you search in their support site for "How to Downgrade Native Access 2 to Native Access 1" you will find the steps.
